they've literally been running the same plays for 95% of the season. any change that is made to the PP is almost always to personnel, usually to which defenseman is playing the "walk the line, draw a defender and pass it to a forward, who is already covered because everyone has watched tape and knows what's happening" role. muller is ridiculously stubborn and is convinced that his strategy will work if he just switches andrej sekera and john-michael liles enough times.

Bad news: we lost, were horribly outplayed, and are all but assured to miss the playoffs for the 5th year in a row.

Good news: when Muller is fired, Mo is too busy to accept a position.

Refs suck......

thats a thing right? cause there were lots of missed calls on the rangers in the last few minutes there. and im pretty sure Bellemore was tripped as he was trying to move that puck out, which is why he sent it over the glass....by accident

It was certainly not a trip as Bellemore stumbled on his own accord, but it looked like St. Louis got his stick on the hands of #73 as he went to clear. I wasn't paying close enough attention to give an opinion on whether it was enough of a hook to warrant a call. Obviously, Bellemore thought it was worthy of a penalty as I believe he barked "That's Hooking!" at the referee before he sat down in the box.

and if they try harder.

really is mind boggling how between them all, they won't make adjustments.

it's really too bad because he's a good guy but this game sealed Muller's fate.....

Whats REALLY mind boggling is that this has been true under every coach JR has hired. #IloveJimmy

This is why I'm pissed that the only move we made was the Ruutu trade instead of selling even more guys. "We're only 7 points back, we're still in it". No, **** you, we were out before the loss tonight, now we're REALLY out. Should have taken what we could get for Malhotra, and some of our scrubs.

+1,000,000

Worked for 2 years in last 10. Failed miserably in the other years. Now we're screwed long term, but I guess that doesn't matter cuz of JR's great drafting skills.

what an obvious difference. Gerbe is a guy fighting for his career sure, but he also cares and has some pride. I really don't think Eric Staal gives a damn one way or the other if they win or lose.

You're wrong. Tripp said many times Eric knew they would make playoffs cuz Eric was sick of missing them. Do I laugh or cry?

He *cares*. They all *care." That's not the right term. I mean, we all *care*.

The question is, do the Canes have the *will* to do what it takes to win hockey games? Jeff Skinner and Eric Staal aren't bad defensive players because they don't know what to do. They are bad defensive players because they don't have the *will* to backcheck, or to find an open man and *defend* him. No matter how tired they are, or how close to the end of a shift, they will both attack the net with a vengeance when they see a scoring opportunity. But when they have an opportunity to prevent a goal, they don't have the same willingness to put in the work.

We also don't block shots, we don't backcheck, we don't run over goalies, we don't hit. Those things are all about *will*. This team has very few guys *willing* to do the things that win hockey games at this level.

This simply *has* to change.

The next GM needs to come in with 2 mandates:

1) Hire a coach who can get something out of this roster

2) Move us away from a culture where Eric Staal is untouchable simply because he's Eric Staal

It's getting really old watching the same reheated pile of microwaved crap night in and night out. We shouldn't have even been in this one after that first period.

The Skinner PS goal was fun for those few fleeting moments. Otherwise it never even felt like we were in the game, even when we were up.
