Lafreniere is só underwhelming, he looks worse than Kakko in his second season.
Even in kakko's second season you could see he will become a very good puck handler. He showed promise, Laf on the otherhand, for whatever reason is underwhelming...

Maybe Mika needed that "show me" contract after all.

I'm have no crystal ball but I don't see this team winning any 6-1 games anytime soon.

Trouba- good
Chytil- not good

Mika has Covid brain again.

Our young players have stunk. All around the league we see young guys on other teams producing offense. Hockey is different here.
I think we are still trying to teach them defense and the proper way to play hockey

I hate to humor the argument, but aside from Hank, it does seem like stars come here, have a good first year or two and then become complacent. Or they get paid to come here and become complacent immediately. It doesn’t seem like anyone can compete at a high level here consistently, unless that’s the foundation of their game. A Callahan or Girardi can grind their fingers to the bone here because that’s how they got to the NHL in the first place. Gaborik, Nash, Redden, Richards, Panarin… I’d hate to see the trend continue, but it’s worth wondering if players do become complacent here.
Absolutely, it's like its systemic. This organization will offer all the amenities and perks to attract players here on top of it being NYC. Where as you've had our local rivals be the antithesis of everything that is NYR and it's no surprise that they both have had Dynasties.

at this point, we just dont know how to develop young forwards. we had 1 foot in and 1 foot out with panarin and zibby. you need give these young guys pp time. its going to give them confidence, etc.

The team isn’t turning its kids loose. In a moronic attempt to make the playoffs before they were ready it stunted their offensive growth in favor of safe, defensive play development and now it has imported a bunch of vets who play gritty, low scoring games too.

Then we are surprised when the team can’t score and the kids look stunted offensively.

Trade him to Montreal. That will turn around in a hurry. I would bet on it. So trade him to Buffalo out of spite instead.
Well I thought Suzuki would be a good get but he hasn't been great and no one else on that team really is that intriguing.
