hm apparently Trouba and Miller have been posting some pretty good defensive stats to start the year?

They haven’t even had Panarin this year.

he’s been our worst player relative to expectations and in terms of overall impact since he plays as much as he does. Once he’s better, it’s going to make things look better for everyone else.

Ive been happy with Kreider and Hunt and content with Zibanejad and Blais. Laf gets a ton of unnecessary heat as well. But we need more than 5 forwards who have been adequate to good, especially when 1 of the 2 who id mark as “good” is a 4th line player

Panarin's just kinda been doing the 'sling the puck around and hope it works out' kind of play
I think people are all reading a bit too much into it...i don't think he's hurt, I dont' think he's out of shape, I just think it hasn't clicked for him yet this season. He could help himself out a bit by not always trying to stop and make his play at the offensive blueline but this is still a pattern of play that goes back even to when he's playing well. My stupid fan opinion is that he needs to change up his routine type of plays and do some different things out there

Monahan on the 4th line

This the guy some of you wanted to 'upgrade' Strome to?

That’s shouldn’t be a surprise. Both have been fantastic to start the season, especially Trouba who has looked like an 8 million dollar defenseman for the first time. That Sens game was his best as a Ranger since probably the qualifiers or his first game with us. Somehow pulled off not 1, but two spin-o-ramas which I don’t think he’s ever done, and then had multiple game changing hits like bodying Parker Kelly into the bench or his hit on Tkachuk

I think Nemeth has been pretty good on the PK and using physicality in the defensive zone, he's just hopeless on the breakout and offensively.

He'd be a good partner for Adam Fox in a pinch, honestly.

So a lot of that pairing is reliant on Lundkvist being an excellent puck mover and skater, and obviously it's gonna take most human beings more time than it did Adam Fox to get used to playing that role in the NHL.

I know people will say Strome and Kakko have been out but look at the Penguins. Puttin up 7 spots without any significant players, so I don’t really buy into those two being out as an excuse. Strome and Kakko are nowhere close to losing a Crosby and Malkin, which makes me unsure about our top 6 specifically.

I just don’t feel the chemistry yet or even more so, I don’t see a cohesive plan in the offensive zone or a great plan for transition in the neutral zone. It’s like one person is reacting to what another person does and it shows as if they’re thinking the game slow and not knowing what the game plan is in those zones

I thought it was the Crosby effect why the Pens youngsters tend to blossom, maybe it’s good scouting/system afterall

I didn't think Lanny's twin brother ever made it past juniors. Fun story about him: couldn't grow lip hair to save his life. The resulting inferiority complex is believed to have been the primary reason his career flatlined.

And shit, did I type Larry? I meant Lanny obviously.

I think we've been fine in the O-zone, we just struggle to get there.

Again it is early, I’m sure some of it has to do to being a new coach, and some players not going. But I don’t know if I can agree that we’ve been good in the offensive zone, but we definitely have been even worse in the neutral zone

Predicting Reaves first fight tonight with last change and Lucic/Gudbranson skating for Calgary
IMO He won't fight Lucic unless there is a real good reason for it and vice versa . These guys are making big bucks now with signed deals ....they have nothing to really hate one another over . Now...it is different versus a division rival like Johnson and or Wilson an arch enemy . Anyways....I would hate to see Reaves get hurt in a non divisional scrap....it would just be the Ranger luck.

Cant criticise winning, but jeez. I have 2 major concerns.

The year in and year out inability to win FO's. For crying out loud, hire the mesiah, or anyone that KNOWS all the tricks and nuances of winning a damned face off. That inability leads to my 2nd concern.

Our PP. There are currently 2 teams with OVER 40%, and 4 (count em') at 33.3% and above. A bunch at 29%.

We are at 12.5%. Inexplicable? Maybe. Unacceptable? Definitely.

Losing a greater majority of FO's always leads to at least a half minute wasted, before we eventually set up on o-zone.
Its no wonder why we are at 12.5%, kind of contributes towards it, doesn't it?

So, Zibby has really struggled in the circle so far, and Kreider has been poor when filling in for him.

IDK if the solution is Laf, or someone else, but everyone else has been better than those two so far.

I can say that I believe the faceoff issue and the powerplay issue are directly correlated with one another.

If Trouba fights Tkachuk tonight, when was the last time the same player fought brothers in back to back games?
