QUOTES TO NOTE:

I think the resiliency that we did show, forgetting about the 40 and starting the third like it was a fresh game, it’s pretty good to see.
It’s nice to know that we got a lot of character in the room that’s not going to give up.
- Barclay Goodrow

It’s unfortunate that we started the game that way, losing 1-0.
But at the same time, it’s still 59-minutes-plus to play. A lot of time to get back at it and just be focused in the moment. We did just that.
- Alex Georgiev

We didn’t do a whole lot in the first two periods.
But we kept it close, we didn’t play poor hockey, but we didn’t play to the elite level we had to play at.
We kept it close and sometimes that’s what happens when you keep the game close.
- Gerard Gallant

This team has always come out flat after the first game back from a road trip. Doesn't matter who the players are or who the coach is, thats just how they do it.

Expect nothing less tonight. Igor will need to keep them afloat before they get their legs and decide that they should try to win the game. Hopefully before the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period this time.

Kakko and Strome both practiced yesterday (albeit Kakko in a non contact Jersey. Turk talks to the media tonight at 5pm, but the beat writers are speculating that Strome is in tonight and Kakko returns Friday.

This is a good bet.

With Strome back, Panarin will slide down off the Zibanejad-Kreider line. Who plays that wing tonight? Gauthier? Barron? Goodrow? Or do they break up the French Connection for one night and put Laf up there?

Predicting Reaves first fight tonight with last change and Lucic/Gudbranson skating for Calgary

Flames played 4 games so far this season. Lucic already has 2 fights. Deslauriers in a good Tilt and vs Det Greg Smith is a short one. Lucic dropped him.

Lucic and Goodrow have some history. They fought when Goodrow was with the Sharks. Goodrow hung in there but Lucic was just to big and strong. Interestingly enough, Lucic and Reaves being two of the best in the game in this department, have never fought before.

I would expect a post road trip let down, but they didnt exactly play well in Ottawa and they are getting Strome back so that should help even the lines out a little more.

3-2 OTL

Reaves throws down for the first time

Sens game was the first game we've scored more than 2 actual goals. Will we take the next step, and score 4??!? Crazier things have happened i guess. Expecting a loss though. We've won 4 in a row we did not deserve. Those chickens will come home to roost sooner than later.

I don't expect it tonight but i'd really like to see some consistent pressure and outplaying other teams. finding these ways to win is good but we need to start improving.

I didn’t have a concern that this team would be worse from our additions, but my concerns are still there about the top 6 for sure. Not many goals, and it’s upsetting that laf and Kakko are not at least on par with expectations.

our first iteration (2011-2016) lacked the high end offensive talent, and was carried by Hank and good defense. I’m concerned that beyond Zib and a Panarin, we might be looking at something similar.

I don’t really know if they’ll ever exceed expectations at this point if they’re not even on the power play

They haven’t even had Panarin this year.

he’s been our worst player relative to expectations and in terms of overall impact since he plays as much as he does. Once he’s better, it’s going to make things look better for everyone else.

Ive been happy with Kreider and Hunt and content with Zibanejad and Blais. Laf gets a ton of unnecessary heat as well. But we need more than 5 forwards who have been adequate to good, especially when 1 of the 2 who id mark as “good” is a 4th line player
