Hearing about them is fine. I still follow all of our old guys and still root for them, but many are acting like it was some sort of sin to move on from them.

It was the right move to let Cally go. Getting MSL may have not been a right move, but two wrongs does not make a right.

I'm on the opposite side. Getting MSL is huge, and I still don't really believe it. But Cally is a special player to ALOT of fans, because he wasn't even supposed to make the team, and eventually became it's captain and a 2nd liner.

You watch a player grow like that, you get attached. It's not Gaborik, or Del Zotto here. The guy was THE Ranger for a while. It's going to take a bit for people to find a new one.

Henrik Lundqvist is THE RANGER. Never, ever forget that.

I feel Girardi is more the personification of the Rangers than Callahan. Not just saying this because he got traded now, but I felt that way for the last couple of years. Lundqvist too, by the way.

So you don't like the move not because it doesn't make the Rangers better but because you like Callahan...

That will be a sad day. We have 8 more years of it though. I'll be in my 30s. More sad than Callahan being dealt. For those like me, he is all we know in terms of greatness on this team. Too young for 94. Hank is it.

I'd be in my 30s if he got a 3 year contract extension.

Callahan for 6 mil a year would have killed the franchise. I loved his style of play and his passion but for 20 goals and penalty killing, unfortunately it's just not worth it. And he wanted 6.5.

I'm also afraid for when MSL retires and we have no draft picks.

Sather will trade it away from the next star that cries his way to be a NY Ranger, maybe Kovalchuk will be a Ranger at age 36  it wont shock me with Sather in charge :sarcasm:

It's not like we have no draft picks. We miss a first round pick in 2015. It's not like the Redskins giving up 3 first round picks (including a 2nd overall and 6th overall). We gave up our 1st round pick in 2015, which will be a low pick since I don't see the Rangers dropping with MSL in the team. We will be in the play offs and TB will get like the 25th or so pick in the draft. What great players can we draft at the 25th pick? If we really rate the draft so highly, we should have traded up in the draft but that pick might take years to get to the level we need to be a contender.

Not saying we are a contender now, but it gives us a decent shot in the play offs. You never know. If we get hot at the right time, we can go deep in the play offs. Have some freaking faith.

Lundqvist was a 7th round, Ryan Callahan was a 4th round pick. Niklas Lidstrom was 3rd, so if you have the right scouts you can find the right players with talent for your organizations, Red Wings draft late all the time and yet grab amazing talent... :handclap: this is why i get pissed at Sather for dealing 5th 6th round picks for Falk and Diaz who might not play many games, i wish Sather could have gotten a conditional draft pick instead.

True. 1st round picks are valuable if it's top5. The Rangers have only had a top5 pick once in franchise history. I think that was in the Original Six era. Says enough. We never suck enough to draft high.

Zucc is back? Solid.

Nasty habit there, he hooks on to their skates, when the refs are not around.

Just love the gritty part of his game :)

Zucc is in?

YES

Excited to see this team at full bore.

I really hope AV switches the lines and puts Hags on Steps line and Kreids with Richards and MSL.

Someone needs to fire Kreider up and get his ass in power forward gear again.

19 games left. When they start sporting the "Games Remaining" column things get ****ing serious. Big two points on the line tonight lets not lose anymore ground.

11 out of the next 15 on the road too. Need to get gritty.

No but the first and second got traded away last year and now the first and a lot of late picks has been traded, don't think the prospect pool is bad but it's not that great either. We have to try to pick some quality to the basket.

I'm attached to the team. Sure, we all get attached to players as well, especially homegrown ones. But I've had more trouble seeing other guys leave like Graves, Leetch, etc. Callahan hurts, for sure, but some are acting like it's a betrayal of the Rangers to let him go. It's not. It's a business and Callahan acted like it was a business. He is as responsible for this as anyone on the Rangers, if not more responsible.

It's a tough pill to swallow. But it's less of a pill knowing that the money was more important to him then being here, especially with a 6 over 6 offer on the table.

Hank is the only one that I'd really die if he left and for good reason, he's a legendary ranger and possibly on his way to a hall of fame career.

Callahan is not even remotely close. We are a stronger team with MSL replacing him currently.

Lets win tonight. Move on. Get these guys heads straight for the last 20 and start racking up some wins.

No more pondering or whining or distractions. This is our squad, the one we will live and die with.

I think he needs some of Zucc's cooking...both on the ice and on the plate ;)

Per the Rangers twitter, Marty St. Louis has the most points against Carolina in Carolina's history. Let's hope that continues.
