All blood does is make it automatic four minute penalty. A ref can still call a four minute penalty without blood if he feels it was severe enough.

It was a bad call. It should have only been two minutes.

I always thought the rule was it was 4 minutes for intent. But it morphed into blood, now apparently its whatever the hell the ref thinks.

Giroux was not intent, it was an accident and there was no blood, why on earth that deserved a 4 is beyond me.

The rule is not blood = 4min, no blood = 2min its all at the discrection of the ref. Its an unspoken rule that drawing blood warrents a double.

Yeah I got that but there was nothing at all that makes that anything more than 2, that's a shockingly bad call

I never hated Rinaldo tbh but a hit to the face on a defenseless player is not "bringing it"

A ref however can still call a four minute penalty without blood if he feels it was severe enough just like any other infraction.

Again it was a bad call & should have only been two minutes but that's how the rules are setup.
