Why anyone cares that Lowe is bean counting for OEG is beyond me.
There's so much Lowe hatred it's unbelievable. Some people, believe or not have said that Lowe stole Slats' job. No on here though.

Someone on the NHL board even said the Oilers drafted the wrong players at #1OA. Good grief.

According to Friedman during the season, Lowe wanted to resign but wasn't allowed to. To anyone saying, people can't be held back from resigning, that's not true as it does happened. It's happened to me when I tried quitting my job and they wouldn't let me but they couldn't hold me back the second time.

Why do you keep bringing this up? It has nothing to do with this conversation. Get over it :help:

Yet somehow Lowe and Mact remain.

Im not celebrating **** until those two polyps are removed.

Well then prepare to never celebrate anything for the rest of your natural life if that's your goalpost. The only way they leave the host they're attached to is if they fall off due to natural rot/atrophy. They're going to have to be scraped out of their chairs.

It doesn't bother me too much though, honestly they look like they've been reduced to Royal Family status. Nobody takes them seriously any more, they're just kept around to get their picture taken, cut ribbons on new shopping malls and such.

As long as they have an owner who's still willing to indulge their travel costs to do "scouting", and as long as Lowe/MacT have zero pride, they'll be around in some minor capacity as long as they want to be around.

You may well be right. That said I am holding to that. The most deserving of firing gets to stay and "have a say" about hockey ops.

This team is still a gong show as long as that's the case.

None of us (jmo) truly know the input Lowe still has or doesnt have. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is results on the ice.

Still way too early to gauge that.

How many times over the last few years did the fanbase get "up" over off season changes? Only to have pie thrown in our faces once the regular season started and we were out of the playoffs before Halloween? Too many. Not happening for me ever again.

Best of luck to those who did their best, took their educated guesses at the prospects, and whiffed!

I don't hold ill will, but am glad changes are being made. Hopefully the next batch will be "luckier"

Whoever told Semenko, I hope they gave him a bonus for having big brass ones!

Lowe may as well be working at a Mucho Burrito for all we care. How can people still complain about him selling tickets and what not?

I get people are still upset with MacT and Howson but I still think both are good hockey minds that are capable of helping this team. Both guys were handed jobs that they weren't ready for and aren't able to make the hard decisions that a more experienced GM can make. I like both of them in smaller roles. People forget Howson built the Blue Jackets and that the only trades MacT won are the ones that he made with no help from his useless pro scouts.

Except that Lowe isn't in hockey ops and we know that he has 0 input on the hockey side of things given his new title, job description, and every thing we've heard out of the media.

You are wrong.

Bob Nicholson said at his PC that Lowe would still have a say in hockey ops. Mactavish too.

Frankly you or I have no idea how big of a role Lowe has in hockey ops, so Im not sure why you claim that you do.

At the end of the day, for an organization that is re-branding itself there is literally no reason to keep Lowe, Mact or Howson around. None. The fact that they ALL are still here is troubling to me, and it should be to every other fan sans Narnia too.

Yes, I often hear about people trying to quit their jobs and they aren't allowed. Often they will call in the RCMP to chain people to their desks! ;)

You do realize what your doing right? You are trying to contradict several media reports that say "Lowe has zero input on the hockey side" by trying to say "well no one really knows for sure" and bring in any shred of doubt that people may have. Stop clinging onto things and realize that Lowe isn't part of what's going on here. This "you and I dont know" is borderline annoying. Of course we don't, we are fans and rely on what the GM and media tell us. Don't go all conspiracy theory in me.

When you are paying people millions of dollars it's perfectly normal to move them into another role where they can help contribute rather than throwing the money away.

According to Nicholson, Lowe IS still involved in hockey ops. The media were spreading the story he was out before Chiarelli's press conference. When asked that day if he was out Nicholson said he would still be involved in a role to be defined by Chiarelli. Go watch the press conference again if you're unclear. It's the same thing apparently for Mactavish. They are both involved. We just don't know for sure how much or how little. To say either or both aren't is disingenuous.

Yeah a role on the business side of things, not hockey ops.

This is beyond stupid. Lowe could be on coffee duty and people would still have a problem with it.

If Lowe still had a strong say in hockey ops his buddies wouldn't be getting fired left and right, especially before the draft. He's not pulling the strings any longer, so that's probably as good as it's gonna get. Same goes for MacTavish.

Gare, Semenko, and Moores were part of the OBC that was allowed to perform as poorly as possible without consequences. Those days are finally over.

A lot of what we're seeing is pretty much anti-Lowe/MacT. Their buddies are getting turfed left and right.

Yeah looking at Moore's history it's clear he's a MacTavish and Lowe favourite.

It's a shame it had to come to this, Moore certainly has a great reputation in town and around the league. I think it's on Lowe and co. for dragging their friends through this mess.

But there's nothing wrong with striving to be better. Status quo is the devil, change is good. All hail Chia!

I see you have mastered the art of selective listening. That is not what Nicholson said.
