the Kings are the first team since 1929 to score only 3 goals over a 6 game stretch.

Nickson says that the Kings are the first team in 85 years to have 1 player score all their goals over a 6 game stretch. Is that better or worse?

watch the bench interactions between Sutter and the players. this will be the most telling indicator we will witness. quite a few times tonight Sutter was leaning forward talking and the players were leaning forward to the boards.

read the body language

in the past to often guys were always leaning back and partially turning towards him. keep watching the bench when they show it.

i'm not saying after one game i would make a call on what is happening, but they used to always listen very intently to DS

I hope the players have found yet another way to get yet another coach fired.

No speed. Nobody in the offensive zone in a chance to score. No clean passing. No moving feet. No vision into the middle of the ice.

All of these things are true statements about the Kings play when they have the puck.

On the loss:
Score. Score to win. Can’t win nothing-nothing.

Whether the Kings generated the chances they needed to.
Yep. It was tough. Yep.

On consistently generating shots without scoring:
I’m not getting into philosophy.

Whether the lack of scoring puts pressure on Jonathan Quick:
I don’t think it puts pressure on Quick. He’s going to play the same way every night. It’s not about one guy.

On what the team needs to do differently:
Well, you can’t get frustrated. You can’t allow guys that are playing really well to get frustrated, and guys that aren’t, you’ve got to see if they can work their way out of it. Obviously we’ve got a handful of guys that are really struggling with their games.

On whether he can see which players are frustrated:
Yep. [Reporter: How can you, besides giving them a backrub or something, tell them they’ve got to relax?] You’ve got to stick with ‘em. You’ve been down it enough to know that.

On Robyn Regehr playing his 1,000th NHL game:
It’s good. You know what? Robyn is probably ahead of that, actually. If you asked him, he’s probably missed a couple hundred games with injuries, and with the injury that he had prior to his career, you’ve got to give him a lot of credit for him to continue to play that same way and be a really good role model for young players – the way he trains. It’s not just the game. Obviously he’s not the player that he was. That’s what happens as you get older. But the role model part of it is really important. It’s good for other players, especially young players, to see that.

On facing the Blackhawks, and whether it’s good for the team to play a rivalry game:
Yep. We’ll think about Chicago tomorrow.

Much better. Thanks for this. The quote in the twitter feed didn't have proper context.

Basically Sutter's saying you wanna make sure the players that aren't frustrated don't get frustrated and the players that are find a way through it.

This team does need to relax and keep it simple stupid. A fun practice, team dinner, something to bring them together. If I were coach or gm, I'd tell them to play pickup style hockey and have some fun. Screw the system right now just play like you did as a kid.

Doughty sounds like a future captain.

I will say though, this is one of those teams that NEEDS practices and NEEDS breaks between games. This stretch is gonna see the Kings play 10 games in 18 days.

That's insanity for the NHL.

Agreed. Not an excuse, but it's just nuts and you feel for the guys.

Yup, little more maturity and he's there.

I will see at least you saw a little emotion in the interviews. Not as much the depressed look, a little more of the "**** this" fire, which is a good sign imo.
