yeah, as Hanks said, I think it’s more about cap why we don’t sit Sid for example and bring an additional body up to the one up in addition to Legace...

I wasn’t saying that though. Sid probably wants to play and if he’s not injured they really can’t do a thing. As I said they likely couldn’t afford to anyway.

Also I’m not sure if the NHL has an integrity rule (AFL - Aussie rules does) where you have to be seen to try and win every game as outcomes can effect other teams in the standings.

Pens have a week off to rest up and have those bumps and bruises heal up. Win today and hope the Caps have one of their games go to OT. We spend time with match ups for the playoffs but if I am the Bruins, I want no part of a healthy Pens team in the first round.

We probably couldn’t afford (cap wise) to sit anyone who genuinely doesn’t have injury concern anyway.

We've got 16 active forwards on the roster according to Capfriendly so we don't need to bring up any additional bodies up to HS Sid. We could HS the whole damn first line. So I doubt that's it.

only 56 games this season and we’ll have a week off before the POs...no need to rest anyone who’s not injured

Does the roster limit go away after the deadline? We have a 27 man roster right now. If so that would make sense then

At some point, this falls on you and your mindset, OC. This team, since 1985, has given more positive than pretty much any other NHL organization. A LOT of us were born 85 or after. So for our entire LIVES this organization has been a massive success.

If you constantly look for the negative, you will live in it. At some point you have to recognize the greatness of this organization and its players.

There was the Gen X teams after the lockout but yes this team has been awesome overall

The rest isn't the point. The point is that any player in this game could get a freak injury that keeps them out of the entire playoffs, and that if the team doesn't care about this game, then we should be resting as many major players as possible to ensure that doesn't happen because what benefit is there to be had for having them out there? Having Geno play to increase match sharpness, sure, but Sid? I mean, your whole argument for "they don't care" is them not playing the first two goalies, but why on earth would they care about sparing them more than Sid if that's all it is?

In 16-17, for the final game against NYR, this team sat Sid and the kids and Geno. Scott Wilson was our 5v5 ice time leader as a forward. That's what a "we're done with the regular season, who cares" line up looks like. If we don't see that tonight, I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

Also, the 56 games have come in a brutally fully schedule. I know we've got a week off but the guys who've been doing big ice time all the way through it - L1 and Tanger - could still probably use the extra game off. But that's not the main point. The main point is you don't expose major players to injuries in meaningless games. If players are out there, it's not meaningless.

it’s not meaningless, but it’s not as important a game to them as it is to us it seems

As someone who's favorite soccer team got relegated to the 2nd divison like 6 times during his lifetime I can't tell you how freaking blessed people are to be emotionally invested into the Pens and how dumb it is to act like the team and the org has been anything short of amazing since the lockout

Not unlike the Steelers, this fandom is spoiled.

Jerry Maguire is outstanding.

Edge of Tomorrow was fun too. Sick plot for an action movie.

My wife actually went to the theater to see Jerry McGuire with her sisters. They all loved it. I've never seen that or Edge of Tomorrow. Kevin Costner is another big name I sometimes don't get. I did like Draft Day, though. He basically plays the same character in all his movies.

Trust me in comparism even the Steelers are pretty spoiled. But the systems are obviously different so you can't really lose as much in the franchise system. I mean you basically get rewarded with a great player for finishing last. If you finish last in european soccer you get relegated to the 2nd division, lose 75% of your players and millions and the club won't recover from it for many years (best case) to basically never

Decided to watch this instead of the early Pirates game. Not watched a lot this season, play offs soon though
