I hate this team
And Fletch only made 1 mistake and it wasn't a mistake...soI thought Fletcher just did what he was told?

You made a post just recently that if the Flyers are a few points out and if they go on a winning streak , they could make the playoffs. Which is it?Michkov is not a phenomenal player. Maybe in 2-3 years.
Right now he plays at a 2RW level. TK is a better player, a true 1st line player.
This is not a playoff team, and the FO has no illusions.
Briere clearly ruled out adding rentals at the TDL, says they're still looking to the future.
He also.said they ate SC contenders 5vs5 and special teams/coaches are easy fixes. You made a post just recently that if the Flyers are a few points out and if they go on a winning streak , they could make the playoffs. Which is it?
According to deadhead, if they could get average goaltending and adda couple of decent starters, they're a top 8 team in the league.Easy to be patient when your stance is always "we are 2 years away". And have had that stance the last 11 years.
He also.said they ate SC contenders 5vs5 and special teams/coaches are easy fixes.
So why don't we do this easy special teams teams/coaching fixes and be a SC contender?
What are we waiting for? Do the easy fixes.
I prefer to call it the Brink line, LOL!I'm glad I could help. Too bad the Flyers can't play the Cates line every shift. They'd probably win the Stanley Cup.
Thanks, MJL66. I want to ensure I understand your point correctly. Having the 1C/1D potential prospect is the litmus test for making a deal akin to the one I described, right? Of course, level of competitiveness will be the biggest factor, as a prospect almost by definition won't be a right-away solution. That being said, there is never a bad time to be adding these high-end prospects if you can make a deal work within your competitiveness window. I'd like to think that even Stanley Cup contenders would sacrifice quantity for significant quality. This is always the litmus test. If you were a team that had a young player with 1C/1D potential. Would you make one of those deals? Even if you were a contending team? I wouldn't. If I'm trading a young player with that potential to make a run, I'm shooting higher
Well, if you want to trade some draft picks for veteran specialists, a veteran 1B goaltender . . .Easy to be patient when your stance is always "we are 2 years away". And have had that stance the last 11 years.

My point is to put yourself in the other teams shoes when suggesting a prospective trade. For clarityThanks, MJL66. I want to ensure I understand your point correctly. Thanks. Yes, of course, which is why I expressed readiness to move anyone but Michkov. My point is to put yourself in the other teams shoes when suggesting a prospective trade. For clarity

They're not SC contenders with good goaltending, they're PO contenders. Big difference. You said it was easy fixes.
So why don't they do easy fixes and be a SC contender instead of being 25th in the league in winning%
They're not SC contenders with good goaltending, they're PO contenders. Big difference.
Holmgren in effect told CF to do that, he was tired of rebuilding after Hextall and wanted to win now.
So trade for top D-man (Niskanen), 2nd pair (Braun), buy 2C (Hayes).
That's how you take a 85 point team and make it a 95-100 point team in one offseason.
Problem was it's not sustainable, even if COVID didn't come along, the team would have aged out.
Didn't help that Patrick had concussions and Lindblom cancer. But was still inevitable.
Pretty much so far this season. But most aren't rebuilding, some are regressing (Isles), others holding on by the skin of their teeth (Pens).By that logic there are 14 PO contenders in the East, and only 2 who are not.
You know the Isles still have a better winning % than the Flyers, right?Pretty much so far this season. But most aren't rebuilding, some are regressing (Isles), others holding on by the skin of their teeth (Pens).
Montreal, CBJ, and Philly are the three promising ones.
There are 31 games left. You know the Isles still have a better winning % than the Flyers, right?
Flyers are better than 2 teams in the 16 team East. You are delusional.
30 games left for Flyers. Everyone else has 32 or 33 but Boston. There are 31 games left.
Three spots up for grabs.
Ottawa and Boston at 56, TB and CBJ at 55 points, Detroit and Montreal at 53, Flyers and Rangers at 52.
Any team that finishes strong has a good shot at the POs in the East.
17-10-4 would get the Flyers to 90 points, which is probably enough for the last PO slot this season.
Wash and Det made it with 91 last season.
Now it will take Ersson continuing to play at this level, and Fedotov being a capable backup.
Odds are against it, but the team should be in striking distance until the TDL.
Though Briere would never admit it, it would make his life easier if they were 6-8 points behind at the TDL.
PO contenders means you're a solid team, but a couple players outside the top 8 and maybe a little luck.
POs are a good experience for a young team to get a taste of the intensity.
Step by step.
How can you know that? What are you a dentistExcept they won't make it to the playoffs.
