i interpret it as they get all these chances but if they had good hands ie: of a top 6 fwd they'd be converting those chances into goals or setting teammates up.
Exactly this. And with their inability to convert those chances, it is wasting valuable goal scoring potential when playing those kind of players with minutes that are away from those players that really have the skills to convert the chances to goals. Weird to even have to explain something like this on a hockey forum.

Enjoyable game after 1st. But I am worried about 4th line- You must be able to play them more, having 1st line TOI 22-25 minutes is not sustainable IMO.

At least I’ve been told that Laine doesn’t have that kind of stamina. OTOH he wasn’t supposed to be able to keep up with the others in 1st line so there is that :sarcasm:

We look like a different team after the All Star break, much more enjoyable to watch.
Yes..., but our last two wins were against non-playoff teams at home, so we should expect those outcomes most of the time. The wins against St. Louis were much more impressive, though. The fact is, the schedule makers have given the Jets their playoff opportunity... their next seven games are against non-playoff (and some really bad) teams. They don't get a real test until a back-to-back against Washington. If the Jets are playoff worthy, they'd better win 5 out of the 7 (and at least split against Washington).

I agree with Eyeseeing here -and I believe we're only 7 points behind Dallas right now for 3rd place, and closing fast lately. I hope we can keep on winning and put together a 6 game winning streak, and we'd be right up there. You never know what could happen, once we get Little back, we'll even be better --and Laine and Connor are really cooking lately.

Nope and nope. They are only 4 points behind, but not really closing fast... They've gained 2 points on Dallas since the break while playing one more game.

Ha! Yeah, he's killing it. Laine is ramping his game performance levels, even through the heavy minutes. Shuffles is more of a cause for worry right now, he looked kind of like a shadow yesterday, a spent force. Not good.

Copp, Laine, Farmhand, even Apples are all cranking their game through the piled-on schedule, or so it may seem. My only conclusion is that youth, and the highly advantageous physiology that attends it, contributes heavily to player effectiveness when the schedule becomes intense.

After the first period last night, the January Jets would've thrown in the towel. They were clearly better after that. My only concern was whether they'd eventually tie it up since they didn't seem like they were getting a lot of good looks despite a lot of zone time and Crawford was doing alright.

I said it earlier but the Hawks PP was a shambles.

Wheeler is the weak link on the PP right now but he had a nice goal on a good individual effort so it wasn't a disaster.

They're playing more physically and it's showing up in the effort. Beaulieu's fight got the team and the crowd fired up.

Does anyone else go back and read the "in-game comments" the next day? It's pretty funny the way so many here are proven wrong.

All sorts of condemnation and insults for Copp, ranging from "stone hands" to being useless to deserving a place on the bench. Of course, a beauty pass gives us a shorty and then the game winning goal comes off his superb effort.

Again, condemnation and insults for Wheeler, ranging from "where plays go to die" to having only two moves on the powerplay. Of course, his laser shot over Crawford's shoulder ties up the game.

Try reading the comments on delay. It's not only hilarious but it also reveals the negativity and calibre of many of the posters on here.

It might even be a little educational for some parties.

Great minds think alike. I was just thinking that most of the last two games have felt like the 17/18 Jets. It's all about the speed and tenacity to me, the pack of wolves. I think they can go far again, with just a couple of changes, assuming they keep this type of play up.
Id go a bit further and say its been this way post ASB - even though we lost that game against the Broons I thought that was the start.

Laine, Beaulieu, Bitteto, and even Appleton, Wheeler, Ehlers showing some good physicality. I really wish Scheifele would get on board and start dishing it out. I feel like he gets victimized because he doesn't take any physical opportunites. His wave the stick checking annoys the hell out of me.

Kulikov did a few surprisingly good plays. If he was always like this, people would have no trouble with his salary.
I am hoping this is what we see from healthy Kuli, and that he can stay healthy. We need him and Beaulieu to stop getting hurt. If we add a top 4 D I really see a very competent D corps:

JMo - Pionk
(Replacement) - Poolman
Kuli - Niku

Bitteto, Beaulieu, Sbisa

That is a D corps who may not make a top 10 list but could really be versatile and withstand some inevitable injuries. Kuli kills penalties and Niku gets some PP2 time and hopefully that boosts their overall icetime.

Even without an acquisition our D when healthy is strong enough to hold the fort if our forwards continue to play this aggressive, pressure style.

Hell, I even saw them flip the puck out or put it off the glass to relieve the pressure when we got hemmed in.

The fourth line is still struggling with this - Little and Lowry would give us so many more options.

Chicago has been a very strong team since an awful start. They had only lost one of their last 10 road games before tonight. You can't simply look at standings to say whether we should win or lose a game.

Would you prefer a GDT void of emotion and passion? Get off your high horse (or moose) and live a little – cheer, bash, curse and lash out, with passion for this fantastic team!

Let me put it this way, then. While I enjoy the recent success, to me this still isn't a team that will scare anybody in the playoffs. I will wait and see if they've found consistency. This is the time of year where good teams pour it on and pretenders fade. So far the Jets are trending properly, but it's still early. Their next seven games should all be "win-able" (let's see them win at least five of them), but the real test will be the back-to-back against Washington.

I am liking Harkins on the third line - keep him there. Scheifele has also been snake-bitten somewhat during the Jets' recent "streak". I expect him to go back to capitalizing on more of his chances. So, there is reason to be optimistic. Again, the BIG question mark will be the second and third defensive pairings.

The defence appears it can hold its own if Niku-Kulikov can survive as the second pairing, that is far from a sure thing though.

Can't help being this high up, it's the way moose are built.

Nothing wrong with living a lot. Cheer, curse, lash out all you want. I was just wondering if anyone ever checked back to see how stupid they sounded?

I know I have and I'm always embarrassed. Comes with being a moose...

2 things i noticed last night that I haven't seen mentioned.

1. Just before the scrap, as 55 came into the circle to take the draw, he winked at Beaulieu. Obviously knew what was about to happen. The question would be how exactly did the fight come to happen. Did he volunteer or was it suggested to him by leadership.

2. Ehlers playing on the PP for Connor introduced a lot of movement into the power play that we haven't seen before. Didn't like Connor in Wheeler's spot though, so undecided overall on whether changing PP1 is a good thing.

It's good to have the detail guys like you around to correct me on my minor errors. You do bring good new though, as we're only 4 points behind Dallas. I was looking at the standings last night, and my memory told me 7 points -- so in my mind, we're 3 points closer to Dallas.

4 points is nothing in the NHL --if Dallas goes on a losing streak and loses 4-5 games in a row --we're in good shape. With that being said, we just have to hope that this doesn't happen to the Jets.

Yep, Yep and Yep
