One of the consistent themes from last year...how are other teams able to get shots on net from their d-men while the Devils never seem to get a shot on net from their D? I feel like the preseason had contributions from the D. Now, nothing. What's different?

One thing this team does not have is a #1 d-man. Painfully obvious. Another thing that's painfully obvious? VOLCHENKOV AND HARROLD NEED TO GO. Gelinas should be up here, Volchenkov should be scratched and Harrold should be waived...

How? Have you ever played goalie before? It's almost impossible to stop that shot. I know from experience what it's like for a deflected puck to go past you before you even realize it.

As someone who's spent almost 20 years between the pipes in some pretty good leagues I can guarantee that the posters on here who get down on Marty every night have never played a single game in goal.

This one is 98 % on the refs. I don't think I've ever seen a game in which one team has benefited this much from the calls.

Devils: one goal stolen.
Flames: two goals on powerplays they should not have been on.

Except Lou refuses to do that...idk if that's based on merit or if ownership is unwilling to pay the big bucks for guys to play in albany.

Either way, it's on Lou and it's a bad decision. Letting Urbom go for free was bad, keeping Volch/Sal/Zid and letting them tank the team is worse.

I don't think Lou fires PDB until he loses the team. This team of old folks LOVE PDB. I wonder why. I'm not looking for his head, because I actually like PDB in general. He needs some prodding, with a 2by4, to limit the ice times of the traffic cones, not the young hustlers.

All you have to do is play goalie mode on NHL 14 to know that when a puck is deflected you're pretty much SOL.

Really. It's common sense too. Rapid change in direction of a projectile moving at a high speed (even if you give that puck 40 or 50 mph and not 80)

This team plays great for 5 minutes looks lost for 5, wash rinse repeat.

How was Josefson?

Barely got any playing time and had to play with Olesz and Gionta, but he was decent. He definitely looks stronger and has some speed which is nice. I fully expect him to be benched though. He was on the ice for a PP goal against.

I'd like to see the 4th line be Josefson-Carter-Bernier for a game or two.

Speaking of, is Carter hurt?
