Speculation: Is Bowen Byram available? or will be? Lots of speculation about him from the "insiders"

Thank you! I’m not sure where this idea that it is a great idea to flip Byram for a different defenseman is coming. We need to flip something else for another defense man and keep him. Then we’ll actually be getting ahead. I’d be fine paying a top four defense for the next few years. That is great and then use all the other deference defense folks we have to fill in those last two roles. In all honesty, I think Samuelson is getting bought out next year when they can still do it for 1/3 unless someone is brave enough to trade something that that’s not negative for him.

Horrible for Buffalo. Why would we trade Byram, who is a first pair player, to get a second pair player? Murphy might be interesting, but for a futures deal, not for Byram.

Byram is not even close to a 'first pair player' on a playoff-level team. At least not yet.

As much as I hated the trade I really want to keep Byram now. He works with Dahlin and I'd rather add a top 4 rhd and top 6 center some other way.

I agree Chicago would need to add, but Murphy would be a great fit as a shutdown RHD. I just don't think it really makes sense for either team though.

There’s nothing you can add to Murphy that gets Buffalo to move Byram. It’d be like suggesting the Sabres could just tack some pluses onto Greenway to go trade for Brady Tkachuk. No one is trading you a younger better player with more years of control for an older, worse player at the same position. It’s a stupid idea.
