The worst part is I don't think this team is far off. DeBoer is just so obsessed with a few particular bad old players, and hates young guys so much, that he's sinking his own ship.

Bench Gionta, get Carter back in there (is he hurt?), keep Josefson, bench Volch, bench Harrold, get Fayne and Gelinas in there (rotate Gelinas and Harrold if necessary), and give Jagr some nights off here and there and let Lokti step in, and play the better goalie for the majority of the starts and things will look a lot better. Most of the necessary pieces are there, they are just rotting away on the bench or in the stands somewhere.

I've had it with Petes personnel choices. He can't be this blind or stubborn, can he?

Volchenkov should be waived in the morning. I'm not saying to hide him in the minors or bench him (really, bench him). A team has thirty days to send a player down. If someone actually claims him (won't happen) then GREAT. If not, it sends a message to his slow ass that he is not playing good hockey and lets him know his job isn't safe.
