That was a strange period..but being up with two goals is great!

When we were in the offensive zone things looked good, but we let them drive the play way too much. Need to tighten things up.

Defense is going to be a weakness this series, gotta put up as many goals as we can, just keep pushing the offense.

What ate we doing??

We are effective when we want. Just need to keep wanting it and come out better.

It's really only the top line that has been effective. And even with them, it's like a B- performance.

I'm gonna go to the Liverpool pub and bless the next 40 minutes in front of the European Cup

I'm not a drinker, but I've always wanted to go to one of those kinds of pubs just for the general atmosphere. At least once. Problem is, for my favorite club - Inter - I'm not sure there's any such pubs around here.

(And you wished Inter well to me directly after the Liverpool CL win from 2019, and obviously I have not forgotten. I appreciated that comment then and especially do now.)

Even with all that zone time, Panthers only scored off an undisciplined penalty. Could've got out of that period scott free.

Glad to hear it :D

The Liverpool joint around here is amazing. I'm not a drinker either but keeping with the whole YNWA thing, they don't even make you buy anything. They just let me loiter around and watch football.

So far I have a hard time understanding why Savard was thought of as an improvement over Schenn, let alone for a first

This is why we (usually) don't rent players. They rarely fit in. Imagine playing for Torts for most of your career and then being asked to go play Cooper hockey?

Even with McDonagh -- it was the year AFTER the trade when he settled in.

Brandon Montour seems noticeable. Its hindsight and maybe somewhat the system since every FL acquisition seems to be doing amazing this year but too bad we didn't get Montour instead of Savard?

the defense looks bad because we keep trying to score instead of controlling the puck in their zone. When you play a fast break cherry picking team what you want to do is control possession in their zone and make them play slow. We keep trying to score instantly in their zone, which leads to turnovers and breakaways from their cherry picking. You don't play into what the panthers want. We gotta play slow puck possession in their zone. We don't need to score they do. Let's pass it around and control the clock and stop turning it over in the neutral zone.

The thing is, with McDonagh we saw glimpses of him fitting in and working. With Savard, its been a complete miss.

I don't even think Schenn's had a bad year, over reaction over a small sample size at the start of the season, he was in the doghouse way too fast.
