Of course AJ would trade Byram for Svech, you'd have to be an idiot not to...but why on earth would Carolina even consider that?
Seriously?

Why would you trade a potential #1d for a 2nd line winger, or even if Svechnikov becomes a 1st line wing, you dont trade a #1d for 1st line winger

Edit: unless you're joking, in which case...well played!!!!

So you guys seriously wouldn't trade Byram for Svech, who's better than Kakko, who was picked two spots ahead of Byram just a couple of months ago?

Next thing you'll tell me that you'd all take Byram 1st overall in a re-draft

For the sake of argument, let's say Svechnikov turns into someone like Taylor Hall and Byram turns into Duncan Keith, would you trade Keith(in his prime) for Hall? Or how about would you trade Morgan Rielly for Hall, assuming Byram is more of Morgan Rielly than Keith and Svechnikov is still Hall. I wouldn't trade a #1 d for 1st line winger even if Hall won the MVP

Also Svechnikov so far played one season and has 20 goals and 37 points, while that's not bad, it's not earth shattering and Kakko hasn't played an NHL game yet.

I love Svech and think he'll be a star, but no, I wouldn't trade Byram for him. Even as weak as we are on the wings, having a D with both Byram and Makar on it is too tempting for me to move Byram. That high end D corps has been missing from the team for ages, no way I would want to weaken it now, not even for a budding young stud winger.

So why didn't Byram go 1st overall?

That doesn't mean much unless the #1 is McDavid. Hall went 1st OA, Keith in the 2nd round, would you trade Keith in his prime for Hall?

But if Svech turns into the next Hasek and Byram turns into Adrian Aucoin you look silly.

Nah.

We just all aren't quietly hoping Byram busts like you.

I'll take a potential Franchise #1D over a franchise Winger any day.

You all just misunderstand @cgf . He's obviously just downplaying Byram to avoid being disappointed in the small chance that he turns into another EJ. I can assure you all though, he's probably wearing his #4 Bowen Byram man thong as we speak.
