Great start, but Washingtons going to come out much better in the second. The rust will be off and we're going to have to hold on.

Simmer beat someone in a race?

I remember the beginning of the season everyone complaining about his speed being on a sub-NHL level.

His straight line speed has always been fine... he is just a really awkward looking skater technique wise that makes people think he is a worse skater than he is.

So lets talk, what would it take for Ghost to be Calder? I know Panarin and Larkin have a pretty big lead on points. I actually think Ghost could close in on Larkin I think he's only being by like 15. Panarin is really far, but he's a forward. If Ghost puts up like a .75 ppg for a Dman, that has to be super impressive.

Heroic playoff charge brought on by Ghost going off for the last 36 games.

I wouldn't expect voters to look at all the little amazing things he does on the ice, consistently, when some seem to think Giroux is a RW.

Needs to keep building his sample size up. The other two have been doing it from the start of the year so they got the leg up right now.

Hell of a period. Bumberger burying that one would have made me feel a lot better. Caps will make this a game im sure.

Ghost was outstanding that entire period, in all 3 zones.

Ghost got another assist tonight, I mean I think its very possible he ends with 40 pts and something like 14 goals. In what will be 60 games is pretty impressive.

If Ghost finished the season at .75, he will win the Calder.

Unless McDavid comes back and plays at 1.25.

The announcers were even worse than the Caps and their fans in that period.

They sound like they would rather be anywhere else. I kept expecting one of them to yawn mid-sentence.

Umberger seriously would have missed that net even if holtby didn't stop it. This guy would be playing in the AHL if he didn't have an NMC. Just buy him out or healthy scratch him and play a younger guy. Hextall needs to see that having him active is just futile. No team will trade for him.
