This is the opposite of what I was hoping to see. I know its a negativity bias thing to say in ordinary circumstances but Washington looks pretty lackidasical and low energy. Somehow we're lower energy than that. I went into this expecting to lose but I at least wanted to see some fight and return to better execution of fundamentals. This is another turd.

Right. Caps don't even look like they're trying. Wtf is going in here?

LaCombe trying to make things happen late in the period in the Ozone. His tremendous skating is making the rest of our team like they're skating in quicksand. It's just the Terry and LaCombe show in this, at the moment, blowout.

Dostal and Cutter stole the game against the Canes. This team has looked lifeless since the Calgary game. Somehow, though, that win will be the justification Verbeek uses to keep Cronin around for even longer.

Look, let’s all remember that we all wanted to go 0-6 this trip to assure Cronin being fired. The way we lost to the blues and philly + losing rest of this trip. That might finally be nail in coffin
Honestly man I just say that cause I want him gone but every game of development is precious. It's why I keep bitching about trying Leo with someone other than Killorn rather than cycling the other wing spot until someone saves that broken pairing. The longer this team languishes in shit like this and keeps the culture of losing alive, the more development time we waste. Verbeek should see we've already more or less hit critical mass on that point with how little the kids of developed past the midway point and fired him already. Especially with the 20 game vacation Cronin took last year.

I feel like it bears asking, again, what Cronin actually learned about his team from stepping back and watching for 20 games. Halfway through the season I still couldn't tell you.

Verbeek pisses me off too. They all probably need to go. But the fastest way for Cronin, at least to go. Is to have a stretch where we just lose non stop. That’s what it took for Eakins.

I've never been a Guy fan. Way too vanilla for me. Doesn't have the guts to say anything really negative at all.

I think that might be due to doing the intermission rah-rah pro Ducks stuff. He's just doing the color stuff as a temp and then back to the intermission stuff. But I'm glad to have Guy over Etem doing the games.

They need to fire the director of player development too and hire some actually proven staff qualified to train and physically develop prospects. Whatever changes they made to the medical team seems to be paying off cause we're lighter on injuries, which is good, or maybe we've just been lucky in that respect but the development of these kids is of paramount importance and I'm really worried this team is going to have to reset the rebuild. Terry is already in the middle of his prime because they didn't start rebuilding fast enough around him. Imagine that but with like 6-7 more kids.

This team has the potential to be good but they just aren’t. A competent coach and 3-4 guys never seeing NHL ice again and they’re there.

I may be in the minority, I may not be.

I do not believe the following guys are serious NHL players:

Colangelo, Harkins, Leason.

Insert 3 serviceable players in their spots and this team looks a lot different

They need a legitimate top line before we start talking about the bottom lines, right now we don't even have anyone with the point totals to qualify for a top 2 line on a good team

They figured if they countered negative energy with negative energy, it would cancel out and result in positive energy.

2022-23, Eakins: 58 pts
2023-24, Cronin: 59 pts

Verbeek was ecstatic about last season and Cronin! There is no way Verbeek will get rid of Cronin, especially since they're ahead of last year in terms of points. Then there is Dostal and LaCombe developing greatly this year in Cronin's feather.

I do have a feeling that verbeek/samuelis will be ok with firing Cronin and hiring that young hot shot coach( forget his name ) the one that helped troybterry on his skills. We all want that proven vet coach. Might not happen.but I’ll take a younger hot shot coach. At very least he’s probably a more friendly dude
