Post-Game Talk: #43 - Three Stars - Panthers @ Rangers

Boy, did the rangers struggle to get the puck out of the D-zone tonight...against the panthers no less. They couldn't break it out, clear it, dump it off the boards, nothing...it was frustrating to watch. IDK if the defense is that tired or if the forwards just didn't do their jobs. Compared to last year the coverage in the defensive is night and day. It was pitiful to watch at times, but im happy with the win. Brass and cally stood out and hank was hank.

Its because Torts wants the puck immediately moving up the ice(along the boards) in order to catch the enemy high man out of position. The problem is it rarely works. Even if does work, it almost never creates a counter play scoring chance.

Most of the time it just gets intercepted by the far side point men who get freebie shots from up high.

The Rangers almost never adjust to moving the puck up the middle if the opposing team is stacking/outnumbering along the boards in the D zone. So our Dmen, futilely, force plays along the wall.

In those scenarios, if the enemy team is stacking the wall you either:

a)pass through the middle through your center.

b)Have the Dmen skate the puck weak side up to our blue line to hand off to a forward. But that would mean our forwards would have to be allowed to read when the Dmen is initiating a breakout.

Its a mess. Its not going to get fixed. It will be our down fall in the playoffs(even more than our lack of ability in the O zone).

I was the only one to vote for Kreider?

I thought he played very well. Don't think he was a "star" of the night, but he was effective on all of his shifts, IMO. I wish Torts would put him with Stepan and Callahan. Put Hagelin with Zuccarello and Richards. Pyatt to line 4. Boom.

Wow guys! Just, WOW! My 2 fav. Rangers score doubles and I am just so happy. I was thinking about it at the draft deadline, right after the trade, but now I just have to... Brassard is really an asset. My next Rangers jersey (my brother is going to NY next month) will be a home jersey with #16.

Isn't it nice we have a talented guy who can actually skate, wearing no. 16 now? No more Avery memories when seeing no. 16

Uh oh. You fed the Gremlins after midnight....

He got my only vote for being called up into a less than ideal circumstance and bein a sport about it

I'm worried about tomorrow. Until Zucc scored that 3-1 goal it certainly didn't look good, and against a weak team like Florida. I'm still waiting for their A game, if it exists.

Since momentum does not carry from the end of one game to the start of the next, they have to play better.
The 2 points is wonderful. The way they got these two is not going to carry them far.

Call me a party pooper as much as you like. I don't care.

Fun game to go to tonight, Shipping up to Boston was a nice touch as they came out to start and after intermissions. Wanted Step to win the award, oh well.

First time security wanded everyone going into the building tonight since I have been going for 8 seasons. Thought they were quick, and it obviously makes sense.

Moore is gonna be awesome. Really like the way he plays. I'm pretty confident that he can actually become an asset offensively as well. Just in the few games we've seem from him he's constantly skating and getting in positions to score goals or put pucks on nets for rebounds. Additionally it does seem like his shot has pretty decent accuracy - I haven't noticed much of the shooting wide "Del Zotto Syndrome" from him - though admittedly he doesn't seem to shoot much yet.

lol i saw this live and died laughing. The fan on the left.

Great to see that Zuck continues his good restart with the rangers, and finally get rewarded. Was a little worried last season that he hadnt the right mind and the patience to come back and fight for a rosterspot.

Let's be real here, the first forty minutes of that game belonged to the Panthers. Good on the Rangers to come out in the third and prove something to everyone. Just wish they saved some goals for tomorrow night ;)

John Moore is the real deal.

Great to see Zuccs get rewarded.

Brad Richards's best game of the season without a doubt. Those legs were moving tonight, and I hope it's a sign of things to come.

Looks like the scoreboard will not favor the Rangers again tonight, so it's great to keep pace. Keep collecting points tomorrow night.

What was the line up's to start the game? And how does it ended?
