The clowns who do the hockey power rankings at The Athletic called us a paper tiger. I am getting really annoyed at the hockey writing there. Staple is a bit cranky there too.

eh, those opinions are kinda justified,
NYR's goals/game is behind most contenders, and it takes time (post-seasons) to earn that league-wide respect

i don't really care much what others say about NYR, we know what we see, and feel -
for me, part of what made Wednesday great was how a national (2 nations) audience started thinking in 1st,
"see they can't keep up with a genuine contender"
but in the end, the Leafs got beat, and it wasn't even close

re the Athletic, despite how much guys here mocked Carp,
having a full-time NYR beat writer was why it's my only sports-related paywall subscribe
Staple NYR output is too occasional,
and while I respect Shayna's efforts, i find i never finish her articles, they read (to me) like homework

Some of it is fair. They do enjoy trolling ranger fans there though.

I am reconsidering my subscription though. They haven’t had a writer dedicated to my NFL team for 2 years but have like 4 writers covering an EPL team I am a casual fan of.
