I'm actually amazed that posters stand up for AV. The defensive system continues to be a mess wholly reliant on a goaltender who it seemingly intentionally demands miracles of. I'll grant you that many of the players need to be better, but it's so obvious that some of the Dmen would be so much better with a different set-up.
It so happens we're without our two best forwards, but it isn't just that this period was a joke that is the problem. At least a quarter of our periods this season have been disgraceful.
It's ths pure garbage that frustrates me. I get not being consistently good. I understand we might win this match, but we cannot afford these periods that you would almost never see in say Renney's era.

They can’t complete a play to get out of the defensive zone, which forces them into the stretch pass attempts.

When they get forechecked hard, they can’t complete simple plays. I don’t believe that’s all systemic.

I can agree with you on the being forechecked hard. But that's where puck support comes in.

The Holik years almost seem fun compared to this.

I know everyone likes to say "well it isn't the dark ages," but keep in mind we had the worst goaltending in the league in between Richter and Lundvist. We've had the best during AV's tenure.

That's the difference.
