They'll send down Friedman first when Letang gets back, but yeah Smith will go back down when Petry comes back. Smith is still waiver exempt but he doesn't have a ton of games left of being waiver exempt. He only has 30 games left of being waiver exempt, then he needs waivers to go back to the AHL.

IMO, they should be planning on Smith staying up in the NHL at this point. He's clearly comfortable in the league and has been doing really well in pretty strong usage so far.

They’re handcuffing Smith at the line and just watching him lose his puck battle rather than attempting to skate back or help him. It’s really weird.
