Question: did either broadcast mention if this was the battle of tallest goalies in history, both at 6’7”?

Al Morganti saying RR could fetch something decent at the trade deadline OR they could keep him and, at 30 years old, he could be part of the core rebuild

Cates literally dog f***ed it that whole back check and he just came on the ice.

Bench him Torts
Don't worry Boucher blamed it of Frost. what is it with Frost and the entire Flyers organization

Excuse me, sir. They have NINE regulation wins which is good enough for *checks notes* tied for last in the NHL with the Sharks.
Thank god we aren't the Sabres though.

Radio mentioned it at least once.

It ties the record. Mikko Koskinen and Ben Bishop are also both 6'7", and they faced each other a couple times in 2019-20.

Khudobin played every game against Edmonton in 18-19, and Khudobin/Bishop split the first game for Dallas in 19-20 (Khudobin got the third game in full in 19-20), but this one was Koskinen vs. Bishop the whole way through.

Rumours if Wpg being very interested and I know for a fact Jets were in on trading for him when we did as well but didn’t have the higher 1st.

Chibrikov and 2nd have been rumoured which I’d do a backflip if we got.

Michkov seems off, bad decision in OT to take a weak back hand shot instead of holding on to the puck and waiting for teammates to arrive. This after TK tried "hero ball" with a similar move but a better shot attempt.

Brink line clearly the best group again by a wide margin.

Frost line flashed at times but seemed out of sync at times.

Poehling is just a bad fit for TK/Tippett, no hands and he's really not that good defensively, primarily a 4th line forechecker - but you could see Jett in that role, centering one of the fastest lines in the NHL where he could play conservative and pass to two shooters while he learned.

Couts line isn't really a checking line, but they play very conservative, and I think this reflects Couts lack of speed (and Hathaway has slowed while Farabee is an average skater), he's careful not to get caught deep.

Sanheim hasn't bee the same player the last couple months, which makes me think he's playing a bit dinged up. Rest of the defense was more than fine, Drysdale starting to play at a high level on a regular basis, and when he turns on the jets, you can see why he intrigues them.

Fedotov allowed bad rebounds in front of the net for both goals, then settled in and did a much better job controlling shots. Best he's looked this season overall.

Another game where the Flyers went toe to toe with top teams (Vegas #1, LA #5, Leafs #8 in point%) on the road. Does this mean they're in the same class? Of course not. But it also means they're further along than people give them credit for, they can stand up to physical teams and skate with fast teams. Need to upgrade STs, goalies, add more talent depth. But it's doable.

Thanks for clarifying, and @ponder719 too.

Who is Winnipeg interested in?

Further along refers to a teams path and journey to Stanley Cup contention. What the Flyers are doing it taking them further away from that point, not closer. I don't think you'll ever understand that.

Normally getting 1 point in Toronto would be considered a good night. Something just feels really wrong about this season.

Fedotov is our best goalie right now though. Crazy he went 1 month between starts.

Not really. Frost and Michkov got the least 5on5 TOI. Tippett and Poehling (laugh) got the most. Couturier was in the middle.

Poehling got rewarded for his awful turnover that resulted in a goal against in the 1st with more ice time than ever. I wonder if Frost would get that treatment? Lol.

Crazy is right. Look at the awful numbers Ersson and Kolosov put up between Fedotov playing on December 5th and January 5th.

Ersson - 8 starts, 4-4, .856
Fedotov - 5 starts, 1-3-1, .853

Thanks man. Never wanna see a player get injured so disagree there. Fedotov did have a good game. How is them earning a point good for the team? I'm not saying you're wrong just want to know why you think it's good
McCabe took two cheap shots at Hathaway before the fight, so he got what he deserved.

I don't care about the point, they're going to pick from 10-15, even with these bad goalies, they're still close to .500 of potential points, that's too good to approach the top 5.

They're playing at a high level at 5x5.
If the current players are capable of sustaining 5x5 play in the top 5-10, then you're half way there.

Last season finished 7th in xGF%, 8th in HDCF%.
This season 10th in xGF%, 13th in HDCF%
Since 11/25, when the Cates line was put together and lines and pairs stabilized:
2nd in xGF%, 4th in HDCF%
Also 8th in 5x5 Sh%, so they're generating better shots/finishing better.

A couple lateral moves/additions could set this team as a top 5 possession monster for an extended period.

Goalies? My solution is simple, keep drafting until the goalie slot machine lights up with 3 pucks and out comes a top ten goalie.
