How is it possible that an NHL team is so bad at breaking the puck out of their own zone? They're literally incapable of doing it. It's insane.

We aren’t good at it either lol. Watch Travis hamonic give the puck up half a dozen times this game when he faces any pressure.

That's mainly because of the pressure they deal with against the top line every night and having no support in the center of the ice from their forwards. I don't think it's a coincidence that Brady and Jacob are eating **** nightly and not because they just suck so bad they can't help it.

I guess. But neither of them have the poise or escapability of someone like Fox or DeAngelo when they have the puck.

Part of it is like you said, they are running around in the zone a lot and guys are out of position, but they themselves are a big reason for running around in the first place.

They’re defacto top-pairing defensemen, not actual top pairing defensemen.

I don't think escapability is their game and I think they can be strong without it but there's not a whole lot of support or structure in the defensive zone at all. One play that doesn't connect and we're in more trouble than we should be in.

When the team plays far below the sum of its parts, that’s on coaching. Fox made the NCAA to NHL transition look far easier than Quinn has

A little late to the party but one time I'd like that neanderthal Joe to criticize a player when he takes a shot that has almost 0% chance of doing anything. All he ever complains about is when players try to be creative.
