On a brighter note, they're actually skating really well tonight. Their biggest issue is they can't string passes together and are moving a second faster than they can process right now. They've also at least been a bit better about providing puck support down low in the DZ and not flying it to leave the D with no outlets

Skjei has McDonagh's tools but with Del Zotto's dumbness

McDonagh had/has better hands, a better slapper and wrister, was much stronger on his skates and better at skating laterally. Skjei is basically mediocre outside of his straight ahead skating ability.

Haha yea I remember having so much hope for Skjei to develop into a 45-50 point dman. But I don’t remember Skjei ever looking nearly as smart as Fox looks, even during Skjei’s rookie season. He looked better than he was because we were so starved for offensive dmen.
