I hope (they surely will) he is properly honored by Team USA at the 4 nations. Johnny is such an important part of the last ten years of USA hockey
I am sure they will in numerous ways. His number on their helmets, "honorary captain" they will do a number of things in his honor. I know some on here were mixed with having him make the team, I believed he deserved to be there for all the times he answered the call as well as playing with elite talent brings the best out of him. Now we will never get to see that happen because of some asshole. His little kids grow up without their dad now and the world is robbed of his skills. My heart hurts so much right now this is one of the worst days in hockey I can remember.

It was such a treat to watch Johnny Hockey play his entire career through the USHL, NCAA, and NHL. His passion for USAH was everything you could hope for from an American hockey player.

Absolutely gutted for their family and friends. His wife and kids should never have to endure such horror. Life is cruel

Here's my current prediction for the team:

Goaltenders (x3):

Hellebucyk (starter)
Swayman (backup)
Oettinger

Defensemen (x8):

Fox/McAvoy
Q. Hughes/Slavin
Sanderson/Werenski
Faber/Hanifin

Forwards (x14):

M. Tkachuk/Matthews/J. Hughes
Connor/Eichel/Guentzel
Boldy/Miller/Boeser
Robertson/Trocheck/B. Tkachuk
Larkin/Kreider

I really like the look of this team. Will be very hard to play against.

Goaltenders:

Starter: I'd say Connor Hellebucyk, but he will be on a short leash
Back-up: Jake Oettinger
3rd String: Jeremy Swayman

Notes: Demko likely makes the team if he's healthy

Defensemen:

Fox/McAvoy
Q. Hughes/Slavin
Werenski/S. Jones
Sanderson/Faber

Notes: Jones will get rewarded for his continued loyalty to USA Hockey. I have a strong feeling that Trouba is going to get a long look (even though he shouldn't). Other guys that wouldn't shock me to make it include: Carlson, Vlasic, L. Hughes, and Hanifin.

Forwards:

M. Tkachuk/Matthews/Kane
Guentzel/Eichel/B. Tkachuk
Miller/Trocheck/J. Hughes
Boldy/Nelson/Gaudreau
Larkin/Kreider

Oettinger, Hellebuyck, Swayman, L. Hughes, Faber, Sanderson, Q. Hughes, McAvoy, Fox, Boldy, J. Hughes, Trocheck, Eichel, Caufield, B. Tkachuk, M. Tkachuk, Matthews, Kane are given for USA.

I don't think Luke Hughes, Trocheck, Caufield, Kane are locks at all. That even seems a bit much for Sanderson/Boldy though I would definitely expect them to make it.

Don’t see how Luke Hughes makes it. Not Better than his brother or fox on the pp so why would he be needed? Also Kane is probably done wearing the Stars and Stripes

Healthy Boldy will not only make the team, but be a major difference maker in a tournament like this. Full package player that can play anywhere in the lineup and dominate possession against even the best defenders with his reach and control skills. Looks to have taken even more steps forward in the off-season from his already stellar end to last year.

Some of these teams would be really, really young. I bet Kane and Carlson both make it. I don't watch Kane that much, but Carlson is still excellent. He's as good as or better than all but Fox or McAvoy on the right side.

How hard are these 4 teams going to play?

Is it going to be like the All Star Games where everyone just goes thru the motions (without contact) and the games end 14 to 12?

I've posted this before, but I don't see Carlson's role on this team. As long as Quinn Hughes and Adam Fox are there, he's not running a power play, and that's his biggest strength as a defenseman by far right now.

He's never been the strongest defensive player, and you want someone more well-rounded in that 3rd RD spot.

Seems like not exactly all USA fans believe in Trocheck.
It's not that he isn't good or people don't believe in him, it's that this team already has Matthews, Eichel, and probably Larkin on it. There's already options to choose from that are capable of being very good two way players/PK'ers that are more skilled.

Winger is where the options start to get limited in that regard, but not center.

It's probably Matthews, Eichel, J.Hughes and Trocheck like centers?
