I am not sure what this is? For a World Championship team it would be God tier - for a 4 Nations tournament it would likely be road kill against those top countries...

Seems like most rosters are leaving off one of Kreider or Miller, and-unless I’m blanking on someone- as far as I can remember those are the only two wingers on virtually any roster mock that PK.

Both of them probably have to be on this squad as non-extras.

I honestly don’t understand anyone leaving JT Miller off the team and putting in scoring wings like Connor, Keller, Caufield or whoever. He’s not just the better player, he’s more versatile, with the ability to play every forward position. And in addition to the PK, Kreider is arguably the best in the game in front of the net on the PP

The more I think about it, the more I want Matt Roy on this team- but man is that RD spot a loaded position.

Too predictable. USAH loves to reward coaches who fail. A true fail upwards organization. Quinn getting another prime time gig is an embarrassment.
I think USA Hockey will be successful at the 4 Nations. They have a lot more skilled players in the fast and their Junior program has been fantastic the past decade. The problem with the Americans is that they make dumb decisions unlike Hockey Canada who take the best possible players and have always come out on top

In terms of player selection, this is pretty close to what I would have right now. Only couple nit-picky suggestions I would have is Kreider on there somewhere for the PK as I've mentioned before, I think I'd flip Miller and Trocheck (I think Miller is probably more comfortable on the wing than Trocheck is) and I think I'd rather have Sandy with Faber than Hanifin, but neither answer is objectively *correct* there.

I think we also need to see where Thompson is at this year. If he's healthy and closer to 2022 Tage, then absolutely I'd have him in there. If not, I think you have Larks in the lineup at C and one of Boldy/Kane/Keller replacing him on the wing. (I think I'd lean Boldy at the moment)

I agree. They should have gold medal or it was a failure expectations. The frustrating thing is USAH head honchos have have such low expectations. They pretend they have high expectations but they don't practice them a d continually reward failure without embracing any change. Like David Quinn keeps getting coaching gigs despite being a failed NHL and USAH head coach. We all expected him here, especially as a new Mike Sullivan assistant in Pittsburgh, but a big part of why USAH's senior team disappoints so often is the stubbornness of USAH executives pretending as if they have everything figured out.

David Quinn. Lol. Perhaps like the U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball team we can still prevail despite substandard coaching.

To finally have a strong roster and then they pick the 3 biggest idiots as coaches.

One idiot fine. But now you have three idiot clones and then a reject wannabe dollar store clone in Hynes.

It's like the worst possible combination of coaches. I am actually super pumped about this. To see Mike Sullivan fail spectacularly on the big stage is exactly what I want the world to see about the fraud that he is.

I think Matt Boldy should find a way on that roster.

Don't get too bogged down by the lines. Role, fit, chemistry, and coaching strategy is going to dictate the lines. They could have 4 #1 lines if they wanted.

Roster predictions without Miller are unjustifiable. Although USAH will undoubtedly make some really stupid decisions. What line he's being aligned with doesn't really matter.

As a Canucks fan and Canadian, JT is an absolute beast. With that being said, it is absolutely fine to put him on the 4th line when your other centres are Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel and Jack Hughes… Team USA is stacked to the tits. Only country with a deeper centre core is Canada

They may put Jack Hughes on the wing. I'd probably play him with Miller. Line up the centers this way:

Matthews
Eichel
Miller
Larkin

If Thompson has a bounce back year, I can see he and Hughes make the team as wings.
Hughes is expendable as a centre for sure, posted my roster earlier this year, but hasn’t changed at all:

B.Tkachuk-Matthews-Keller
Hughes-Eichel-M.Tkachuk
Robertson-Miller-Guentzel
Kreider-Larkin-Trochek
Connor-Boldy

I could see Thompson bumping Guentzel, Trochek or Connor for one of the wing spots. I understand bringing one of Coyle, Tuch… etc, but bringing more than 1 role player for the PK is a recipe for disaster and a testament of past USAH rosters. The team already has enough star players that can play the PK in Matthews, Eichel, Miller, Larkin, Kreider, Trochek.

Also keep Caufield and Zegras far away from these rosters.
