Sid looked like the best player in the world versus Sweden.

What struck me is the talent disparity from lines 1 to 4, and of course, juxtaposed to NYI.

Hockey needs more best-on-best, IMHO the best sporting event outside the NHL playoffs.

He doesn't power up the rush on the wing like he used to. He used to be downright frightening with the puck coming up the wing rushing the net. It's completely gone from his game now.

Trump vs Trudeau, the threat of sanctions, the booing of the national anthem aligned at the perfect time for the NHL to have a Canada/USA matchup. The players fed off the media ramping up these stories and it paid off bigly. Players came to play and showed why the sport is so great.

I’m not trying to get into a political debate but the outside noise definitely helped this matchup. Without it NHL fans would have enjoyed a solid game, with them brought a whole new audience.

I was at 1983 NVMC game . Gretzky with 4 in the 3rd right in front of me . We were 10 rows up behind the goal .

I was there - I was in section 122, second row. We may have been in the same section - don't recall if that was where Gretzky scored his goals. If they were the "road" team, then it might have been (since the Isles usually shot in front of me in the 2nd period and were at the other end for periods 1 and 3).

I still have photos somewhere from warmups. I recall I had a bunch of Pelle Lindbergh.

I was. Sat in section 315. I got Jean Beliveau’s autograph . Saw him in the concourse during intermissiom and it seemed like nobody recognized him. A true gentleman.
