For as much crap as Jack is getting, he was still 3rd in TOI last night at 21:21 - behind Guentzel and Eichel. He played better than he did versus Canada, but there still seems to be another gear for him to hit.

I'd be a bit surprised if they had to call in another player for Thursday night. Just need 2 of Matthew Tkachuk, Brady Tkachuk to Auston Matthews to be ready to go. Biggest game ever for 2 of the 3 guys, so I think they'll do all they can to suit up. Guessing Kreider would be the odd man out if that were the case, though he seemed to have a good game last night. Aside from the injured Brady Tkachuk, Trocheck had the lowest TOI among forwards last night at just 10:48 - though I believe he was a bit dinged up as well (getting just 3 3rd period shifts).

Trochek only got 10:21 against Canada though while Connor had a team low 8:32 against them (versus 14:27 last night), so he might be an option to sit if everyone is healthy and Kreider draws back in. Good thing there's a couple days off before the game to give guys some more time to heal.

Emily Kaplan is saying that both Tkachuk's intend to play and Team USA is talking to the league on if they can get an injury replacement for McAvoy.

I think if they have 6 healthy defensemen though, the league probably doesn't allow another player to come in.

Will definitely miss McAvoys physicality, but I love Sandersons game and skating.

They did let Canada bring in a replacement for Makar and then are letting the replacement stick around.

From a fairness perspective, they should let USA add a guy if they want. I’m guessing Team USA wouldn’t bother if they have 6 healthy defenseman anyway.

Yes, but Harley was brought in after Canada already lost Theodore and didn't even get a chance to take warm-ups with the team until Makar was ruled out and they would've been short a defenseman.

For team USA, you still have 6 healthy D but 4 of them are left-handed shots. I think the rules of the tournament is that all 6 will have to play if healthy and USA can't just bring in anther RHD with some physicality to replace McAvoy.

I think if anything they'll be able to bring someone up to Boston, but he'll only be able to dress if there's an injury or sickness to one of the 6 guys.

Apparently Harley is now an option to play even if everyone remaining is healthy for Canada, effectively giving them an extra large roster with more choices.

To put the USA on par with the Canada roster, they should be allowed to add a defenseman and be given the option to play them. That would give a level playing field with the Canada roster.

I do think it’s a moot point though, USA will go with the people already on the roster, if 6 are healthy.
