It sounds like most non hockey fans loved the fights. Maybe the booing of our anthem and something to do with it. Billly Guerin said the fights did have something to do with it.
its funny most hockey fans want fighting out of the game but the casual fans absolutely love it when its not staged and i dont think that was staged.

Lankinen has been a BUM so far. Both goals not good, but I didn't see them in real time. Just the stupid 5 second clip. I'm watching it now.

So as long as Binnington doesn't f*** this up then the game is already over.

Lankinen is only even playing because Saros has been on a couple month bender of suckage, which also continued in the one game he played.

Lankinen was also a BUM the other day. Gustavsson and Ullmark just combined to be ever so slightly worse.

So what happens when Canada wins (they will, it's over) this in regulation and Sweden wins in regulation, who plays the USA?

Wouldn't both teams have just one regulation win?

Or would Sweden get it because Canada lost in regulation, Sweden hasn't? I think that's how this works?

Canada gets in no matter what if it's a regulation win... not sure what are the tiebreakers though

Kk can we end this game?

Head-to-head results is the first tie-breaker, which is why a regulation win by Canada or Finland puts them in the Finals as both teams have beaten Sweden.

USA would have 6 points
Canada would have 5 points
Sweden if they win later would have 5 points but the first tie breaker is head to head and Canada beat Sweden so that's why Canada advances

Finland is another team with a goalie problem going into the 2026 Olympics, and they don't have a roster like Canada (or a McDavid) to really compensate shit heads like Lankinen, who went almost the entire summer unsigned for the NHL and if Saros is not Vezina level Saros again next year I'm not sure what's gonna happen.

Maybe they default to UPL, but they'll probably just go with Saros no matter how he's playing next year.

Did the swedes really lose to this team?
They somehow managed to have a worse goalie performance in that game than Finland.

SOMEHOW

I don't know how, but it happened.

And Lankinen STUNK in that game. He had nothing to do with the win. That entire game was a softy fest on both sides.

Matthews is being rested tonight. I hope they play Hughes at center where he belongs.

Where'd you see this?

Thought that Matthew Tkachuk is being rested for Kreider, McAvoy comes out for Sanderson and Oettnger gets the start in goal. Assuming that Swayman backs him up and maybe gets some action as well.

Another weak one almost gets through Lankinen.

This guy is so f***in shaky. Why wasn't he pulled after the third goal?

Every half dangerous chance ends up a goal on a shaky looking save.

Kinda messed up to me not to let Swayman start here, even more so that the game is meaningless. Could put Oettnger in for the 3rd period.

I don't know what hired gun they have coaching for Finland in this tournament. It's probably Ralph Kruger and Ted Nolan coaching Sweden and Finland I'm not sure which guy is coaching what team. I'm just making a joke about how they had those guys coaching European national teams in past tournaments.

But the guys coaching for Finland are DOLTS for not making a goalie change.

You could argue that they probably should have given Juuse another shot today. Lankinen wasn't good against Sweden.

It's a Monday afternoon game that's already a blowout in a matchup without a home team. Tonight should be different and Thursday should be insane.

Going tonight for the prices they charged for what is now literally a meaningless game sucks for people who are going.

Of course Thursday is gonna be crazy, no question there. I debated going but it's too much money to spend in case the US doesn't win and if they do win it's still too much money.
