ESPN saying just 2 points. They got 3 or 2 points? Sportsnet.ca shows they got all 3? I thought an OT win counts for 2. Or is just a shootout win that counts for 2 points only?

ESPN saying just 2 points.
The first goal, he went down early and was moving sideways. Wasn't the best form, but he battled afterwards. It's just 2 for OT win/1 for OT loss.
Saw O'Neill on TSN this morning giving that gibberish about how Binnington made the "right saves at the right time." He's not alone, you hear that a lot from analysts but in most cases, like last night, it's B.S.
The "right save at the right time" would have been stopping Kempe in the 3rd and then there's likely no OT and Canada gets the full 3 points.
Yes, Binnington was good in OT - the right saves! - and I have no issue if Cooper wants to go back to him in game 2. I get how not being active in the first period can be difficult for goalies and Canada did let up after that first, but Binnington's going to have to be really on his game right from the drop of the puck on Saturday as I expect USA will come out flying.
HDCF were 10-5 Canada. The first goal, he went down early and was moving sideways. Wasn't the best form, but he battled afterwards.
A loss and you’re likely out of the finals. It was a round robin game. A lot Olympic round robin games were shittier than this.
Crosby was pretty good. McDavid can fly knowing Marner is staying back but it would be nice if they had a bigger body that could skate with him. There is zero chance they will split up the Crosby line. I doubt very much much they change the McDavid line either.
Yeah Marner cheats defensively, does the same thing for the Leafs, some people have trouble identifying that. He and McDavid looked out of sync no doubt but it’s to be expected.Crosby was pretty good. Reinhart was as MEH as Marner playing with 97. Why you would not bring a guy who works well with McDavid is questionable IMO. Scheifele, Weegar, and Thompson should also be there.Crosby was pretty good. McDavid can fly knowing Marner is staying back but it would be nice if they had a bigger body that could skate with him.
I thought Stone lagged behind like Marner and Reinhart in the keeping up. I’d try moving Marchand or Hagel up with McDavid. Marchand is accustomed to the speed McDavid can with due to his training with 87/29. Plus he’s good in small ice situations.Yeah Marner cheats defensively, does the same thing for the Leafs, some people have trouble identifying that. My point was more that MacKinnon and Crosby were good together so it’s doubtful they’d be broken up.
Maybe Stone and Rienhart flip spots?
Really I doubt they change the top two lines at all and just let them continue to find some chemistry.
Yeah there are certainly lots of options but I still believe they will keep the top two lines together and live or die with them.I thought Stone lagged behind like Marner and Reinhart in the keeping up. Careful driving. We pulled the plug, staying home this weekend.Well , wish me luck, Im leaving the house around 9. Half my guys stayed at home today.

That didnt age wellAnd only goal vs Canada was Marner.
Are we suprised? How many series have we won?
I don't know where that Czech/Canada game ranks in people's minds for all time great games but for me it''s top 3. Now I was just a 10 year old kid but I never saw goaltending like that and Sittler's winner was the kind of ecstasy I imagine a Stanely Cup winner must feel like. Being a Leaf devotee for a mere 50+ years, I wouldn't know for sure, but that's how it felt for me.Answer : Almost 50 years ago now, back in 1976.
In the 1976 Canada Cup, Lanny MacDonald set up Leaf teammate Darryl Sittler in OT to beat the Czechs

For many players, winning the Canada Cup was the highlight of their careers. Bobby Orr and Lanny McDonald both rated winning this tournament ahead of winning the Stanley Cup.
The great Börje Salming lead team Sweden in scoring and was named Sweden's MVP and made the tournaments All-Star team on Defense beside Bobby Orr, along with Leafs then captain Sittler joining him for that award for Canada.

Maple Leafs had 2 members Sittler and Salming being named to the Tournament All-Star team.
Lets see if Auston, Willy and Mitch can find that level of success.
PS.. Maple Leafs Swedish teammate Inge Hammarstrom also played in the tournament making it 4 Leafs.![]()
Wrong thread guy. We're talking Canada vs Sweden here.Do playoffs have 3v3 OT?
I'd go with Hill vs USA. Continue with Hill if he wins. Lose and go back to Binner vs Finland and probably the final, assuming they get there. It's just 2 for OT win/1 for OT loss.
