Lots of special teams skew those even strength numbers. Tk and farabee playing d-man minutes messes with the torts Hates skill narrative though.
1 bad goal and a blown play by a guy playing his off side otherwise Good effort tonight with points from very unlikely places. The consistent slow starts are a concern already. Sandstrom did ok against a team with a lot of firepower.

The f***er got more ice time than Allison and Laczynski, who are supposed to be the future. The total tone deafness of this organization truly astonishes me. Let the young guys play and play them often. Send MacEwan back to Lehigh and leave him there never to return.
You do realize that MacEwen is 11 months older than Laczynski, and 14 months older than Allison.

You do realize that MacEwen and Hodgson are the same age as Sanheim, but we're supposed to believe they're the Little Minor Leaguers Who Could, while the latter is a finished product.

More to the point, it's disingenuous to even compare the three. MacEwen has a 139 game NHL sample of sucking ALL the ass. The tattoo boys have 29 NHL games combined. Hell, they only have half of MacEwen's AHL games combined. Allison and Laczynski are so obviously more talented -- Allison has received more consistent scoring usage, so that one is undeniable. They were better at every level as prospects; higher touted (draft position, WJC, production) for a reason. They were 4 year collegiate athletes; each dealt with serious injuries keeping them from being in the lineup, hence their games played.

Laczynski has been set up to fail playing with plugs, and yet he's +5 relxGF% with 2 points (admittedly, 1 EN). Frankly, in 4 games that doesn't seem like an adequate sample size or a sample size that even makes him look poor! Considering the injury depleted slop they're dressing, it simply does not make sense. It's so boring that you're white knighting for MacEwen.

MacEwen was good tonight. He hustled his ass off & was fast & energetic. He was rewarded for it.

In the unlikely event it ever comes to pass, the day you and all of the other authentics realize that no talent lunch pail try-hards trying hard doesn't make them good players, or make their teams any better, will be a banner day in the history of mankind.

Imagine defending that it was a good idea to play Zach MacEwan and Nicholas Deslaurier 23 minutes and then only playing Allison and Laczynski 20 minutes. Completely tone deaf.
I can't imagine why people on hfboards said that torts would give useless minutes to useless vets instead of kids for development.

The next line of defense will be more Braun time over Z because young kid D make a lot of rookie mistakes. I know news at 11 for the update.

Tortorella has decided that MacEwen is a second line player. Despite the fact that this decision proves all his lofty off-season Tortorella fantasies were nonsense, he has to vigorously support it

That was a fun game in spurts.

Sandstrom made some incredible saves. Bit of a tough team to face for his first game of the season.

A lot of positional miscues overall.

They still have a tendency to pass up shots on goal for one (or two or three) extra passes.

I hope claiming Sedlak doesn't mean Atkinson and Tippett are further out than we thought...
