We should put a line with Chytil, Howden and Namestnikov to finish the game, they are the only forwards giving a damn tonight.

DeAngelo, DeAngelo, DeAngelo, my God I hate when you do **** like that. Amazing two line tape passes from behind his own net but when he tries to do too much in his own end is when it gets tough for me to watch.
He had little support there, If I saw it correctly

Then they failed to get it out again.. I thought they were gonna get scored on

Howden is what a rebuild is all about. By that I mean you put as many bullets into the magazine as possible. You might miss... no, you will miss on some, but with enough chances you find some gems.

It's all odds. A few top 10 picks land, some bomb, but make enough 7 round selections and you get a hall of fame. The thinking around here post mcdonagh trade was we missed on sergrachev and Foote. I would guess that there's a different thought today.

Really good WHL scouts, and apparently Yzerman is really good friends with the Moose Jaw GM

The Rangers are definitely focusing on the WHL these days.

They know what they liked in Howden and Hajek.

They’ve just beefed up their scouting for the league even further.

And there are no less than two potential first line centers and a first pairing defenseman who could go in the top 10 next June.

They’re paying attention.

I think the thought was to give certain guys a chance based on their potential.

The reality is that if a guy like Zibanejad were to put it all together, and pick up where he left off last season, it would go a long way to helping this team.

Moving on from McD or Nash is one thing. Even a guy like Zucc makes sense.

But cutting bait on players like Zibanejad, Kreider or Hayes is a lot riskier proposition. I get the sense that the Rangers wanted to give them ball and see what they’d do with it.

Up until the point he was acquired, Zib has never done a single thing to ever indicate that he was capable of leading this team as the #1 center.
He's going to come from a horrible OTT team where he was a #3 to turn the team around?
It just goes well beyond common sense to even entertain such a fantasy..

He, just like Lias, has the "Johnny on the spot" factor that's just a part of his natural talent. The kid is always in the right position and knows what to do to drive play forward.
I said it the other day, but they both feel like guys that go from 50-60 point paced regular season to ~PPG pace playoff runs from the middle six

If Zibanejad ever showed what he’s supposedly capable of, we’d have a player. He just hasn’t outside of a few stretches.

I have no problem cutting bait on him.

Didn't watch the Carolina disaster, but I'm pretty happy with the way the team is playing all things considered. Staying competitive, all I can ask for.
