I don't know why certain posters are expecting 2 pts just cause we're facing the Islanders. They've been a team that has our # for the past couple of seasons now and with the way we've played against both Florida teams, it'll be a dog fight more then anything else IMO.

Let's just minise our mistakes and we'll have a shot.

P.S. Is it just me our does our PP look more organised whitout Kovy on it :dunno: I'm not saying that we should take him off the PP but we are passing the puck alot more and we're creating more chances the past few games.

I think it does too. We're moving the puck well. People make fun of the Kovy-less pp but its looked fine. If they played like that with Kovy it would be much better.

Yeah these games against the Isles have been tough for a long time, hasn't been an easy 2 pts for a while.

I just don't understand the hate for the Isles. They have been such a meh team for so long. They really don't have any players that are easy to hate or their style of play. I don't even consider them a rival at all, they're just a crappy team the seems to play well against us.

Maybe Kovy's injury is an eye-opener and we give him a regular shift on the wing (left circle maybe, :sarcasm:) on the power play? Nah, April Fools...

Our PP has exceeded my expectations the last two games. Though I don't think those teams PK's were anything to write home about. We'll see as the week goes on. Speaking of special teams this team's PP always burns us. Last two games where they scored 5 goals against us I think 3 of them came on the PP in each game.

I still don't think this Isles team is that good though Visnovsky, and the fact that they actually have a REAL goaltender has gotten them pretty far. They've had the talent up front with Moulson and Tavares for years, and couldn't get out of the basement because of trash can Rick/scrub goalies, and their defense isn't that good. Right now though their forward depth might be even or better than ours with Kovy out. Their bottom two lines are kind of a joke though.

Wow, this almost actually looks like a game day thread...What happened to real game day threads with lineups, stats and links?

Due to all the high picks they have been compiling, eventually the Islanders will surpass us, assuming their management doesn't continue to undermine the organization. This could be a two ships passing in the night moment.

Da fuq kinda thinking is that? Not only pessimistic but pretty unfounded. They are the NY Tavares' and nothing else. We're in much better position than them.

I think they have a solid talent base aside from Tavares (Grabner, Bailey, Hamonic) but they are not a big team up front. Size and boardwork has been a major achilles heel for them.

BTW Do you see who they have in the pipeline? Griffin Reinhart. Ryan Strome. Nino Neidereiter. They have two NHL ready goalies in line behind Nabakov. And some of their secondary prospects (Petrov, De Haan) are impressive as well. The islanders due to the abysmal finishes have had been afforded the luxury of having a very large margin for error. It was virtually impossible for them to be this bad for so long.

I just don't understand the respect, and like for the Isles among Devils fans. The Devils/Isles friendship It's like we're expected to respect this team (I'm not saying you cause you never said that, just in general) I don't like any team we're fighting for a playoff spot with and this team happens to be one of them. Do I want them in the playoffs over the Rangers? I could care less either way as long as we're in them.

There are a couple players I like there (Moulson, Tavares, Nabokov) but there's players I like on the Rangers and Flyers too. I really don't like any teams in the east particularly. I'm admiring the Sens right now though. The rest I can take em or leave em.

And our core consists of Kovalchuk, Henrique, Zajac, Larsson, Lokti, and we have guys like Merrill, Gelinas, Severson, Boucher in the pipeline. I'd take our team + Lou in charge over their joke of a franchise. As a devils fan you should have more pride/confidence in your team.

Edit: I think they're a solid team I wa defending them earlier in the gdt, I just don't see how you could think they're "passing" us. Their prospects have proven nothing and we have more proven nhl which is all that matters really.

The Islanders pick top 5 nearly every season for the last decade. That's why their system is loaded. The devils system isn't really comparable to the islanders system. Assuming Wang doesn't screw it up even further, the Islanders should surpass us due to atrophy. The devils org will be at a significant crossroads in the next 2 years. Who replaces Marty and Elias? How will Kovalchuk age???? Was is Clarkson worth?

If Toronto trades for Luongo at the deadline I'll lose my ****. Two more games against them this week with one this weekend coming up. Another game, another opponent, another model of blimp. We used to crush him when he played for Florida, but in the 4 or 5 times we've played him since he's been in Vancouver I don't think we've won one game against him. Including a couple shutouts too.

The Leafs were in 8th after 48 games last year too though. They were tied with us. Being that it's a 48 game season we won't get to find out what happens to them after game 48 other than the playoffs.

So we have loads of question marks yet their PROSPECTS are sure things? Don't get the logic. Both teams have question marks. Ill take Lou and the devils' ability to answer them over the isles thank you very much.

The Islanders are the most poorly run team in the NHL currently. Leave it up to Wang to **** it up if they have some gems in their pipeline if he doesn't sell the team.

Knew that was a joke right away and didn't fall for it. I think the thread title said "knee surgery" in there so it was pretty clearly crap from the start.
