Because the 4th line is only -6 or so on the year despite having possibly negative offensive talent. It's not *that* big of a difference.

Well if the 4th line had a positive impact rather than a negative one, that would be something that might make a difference would you agree?

Maybe a playoff spot would be a slight stretch but with the offensive talent on this team, depth at forward could have a downstream effect that yields positive results. Easier to match lines, balance ice time, etc.

There's obviously other holes on this roster, though.

Since i haven't seen it posted here yet:

Can you imagine how frustrated Quinn must be? He probably literally tells these guys to shoot and go to the net everyday and then all he gets is highlight type 2-10 % cross passes for the prefect play over and over.

In a vacuum, but when they struggle it cascades down onto the other lines. More defensive zone face-offs, penalties taken by guys like Smith because they can't keep up, etc. If you have a couple lines creating momentum and really clicking and then you send those guys out to get stuck in their own zone for 4 shots and 90 seconds, it can really change the complexion of the game.

I remember when we had a good fourth line, like Boyle, Moore, and Dorsett/Carcillo, it could often be the difference in games. Even if they didn't score they generated pressure and were hard to play against and made life easier for the other three lines. These guys, they're a tire fire and they make the game more difficult for our actual forwards.

NHL robs me - to be legally compliant I have to own Gamecenter, NHL network and NBCSN and then i get blacked for LA games so i have to own FSN and now i get female announcers. fk this

The only female announcer I've ever heard for a hockey game is Cassie Campbell doing the "Between the Benches" kind of segments. It would be a hell of an adjustment for me at first, if I ever hear a woman play-by-play announcer.

Tuned into Joe saying "I thought this was a very evenly played period"

I'm assuming we were outplayed, out shot, and out competed?
We were out-shot, but I for one thought it was relatively decent. We had a 5-on-3 with a bunch of golden chances, at least 3 or 4, that we couldn't turn in.

There were a couple characteristic stretches where we were totally pinned for 60-90 seconds, which is the difference (in Corsi and all that).
