For a period in Montreal (a lot of teams, not just us struggle there) it was great

Yeah but people are acting like we outshot them 30-2 and "oh woe is us, we're losing".

It was even and they got better goaltending.

Will this system of Tortorella's ever win us a cup? No. There were many games when Biron should have played. Whether it's to give Henrik rest of give the team a different look playing for Marty, he should have thrown Marty in at one point. This is our best period in a while and it's in front of Marty even as we're down :47 in. It's only when henrik is hurt that Biron is in now. Tortorella is inflexible.

You do realize we nearly made the SCF last year, right? You were watching the team then, I assume?

One for people who want to fire Torts no matter what and one for people who actually want to watch and discuss the game.

What is there to watch besides how poorly this team is being coached. We played with heart and got nowhere on the score board. What is there to discuss this period?

1) We had heart
2) We had chances
3) Same script
4) Marty's 5 hole
5) Gaborik, Zucc playing well

then there's

1) Boyle over played
2) Boyle on PP
3) Girardi on PP
4) Girardi regressed
5) Kreider benched for no reason
6) Backwards line ups

We do need 2 threads because Torts is digging up reasons for two threads.

No matter what? I think most people were advocating for Torts when he was coaching well.

He benched Kreider nearly the entire period for no reason, yet continuously throws boyle out there. Including a shift on the PP and the first line. Please explain to me any sort of reasoning behind those moves.

He literally gave kreider one shift before moving him to the ****** line. I thought Torts finally stopped that crap but now he does it for no reason especially when the kid has been playing so good since coming back

Gaborik's breakaway shows how useless he is. There's only one way Gaborik can score, which is getting a clean shot from the slot. That's it. He can't deke, he can't score on a breakaway or shootout, he can't power his way to the net, the only way he scores is if he gets a shot off and the shot goes through cleanly or if it gets deflected. That's a major issue.

And I honestly don't get any of Torts' goalie reasoning. He plays Lundqvist on games we should be able to win easily. The only explanation I can figure out is he wants Lundqvist in these should win games to make the high percentage wins even higher and/or put Biron in games he knows we have little chance of winning. But you aren't supposed to play it like that.

The team is incredibly frustrating. They need to score and they aren't capable. It's like we have one game where we score 5, then 5 games where we score a combined 5 goals. On the Habs broadcast, I think they said all but 3 of the games, the Rangers have given up 3 or fewer goals. That says something about our offense. Lundqvist or whoever was right when he said if we can score a good 3-4 goals a game consistently, we'd be in fantastic shape.

You almost want the Rangers to lose so Torts would be gone at the end of the season, but at the same time, you don't want Columbus to get our #1 pick. It's a tough situation, but the Rangers have a great team for many years to come. They just need a coach who knows how to use them.
