Anybody listen to the Locked on Senators interview with him? He seems to know what he has to work on and gave credit to Lassi for helping him a lot.

Dat Lassi is a real dawg! Boom Boom lacks teachable skills, his game needs to evolve to cater to his innate offensive abilities. I can see him help the powerplay in the future.

What did Roby say about what he has to work on?

Haven’t really seen the physical element, and he acknowledged it last week on a podcast, and one of things he said Mann would like him to work on.
He is young and has good skills, so hopeful on him.
I think Roby is a soft passive player and lacks a competitive edge. He is still young and he has time to develop in Belleville. I hope he does.

Do you guys see him more on the 2nd or 3rd line?
He is not on any line right now and needs to develop to make it to the NHL level. I doubt he will become a 4th line player because he is too soft and passive. If he learns how to play a more competitive game he could become an NHL player. He has some offensive skill so I see a ceiling of 2nd line at best.

Lots of time but learning to be more competitive or aggressive is a tough one.

That said, I thought he showed a fair bit more at the Juniors and while he won't run guys over often he was fine with the physical board play so maybe that will be good enough.

Roby is such a tough read for me. You have guys like Greig, Kleven, and heck even Boucher to an extent have these reasonably clear paths to at least being NHL regulars. Kleven being a bottom pairing guy who can clear the front of the net, Greig looks like he could project into a nasty third liner or more and even Boucher with his size, physicality and skating ability looks like he could carve out a nice role as a 4th liner.

Roby just put up solid numbers as a teenager in the AHL while looking like he's sleep walking most nights. On one hand it's concerning because he lacks the tenacity of say a Crookshank or a Greig but on the other hand, he's still putting up solid numbers in a pro league and dominating the World Juniors while being as cool as a cucumber. Even just watching his interviews it looks like he's about to fall asleep half the time.

The guy is unbelievably talented and has unreal size but man the way he plays it's just hard to see where he'll fit in an NHL lineup with how casual he plays. I don't see how that'll change either. It's just who he is.

His talents are really going to have to carry him to the next level.

His energy and compete levels are low. He needs to elevate both to become an NHL player.

He's 19 or 20 right? Seems like he has a fair bit of time considering what the top 9 looks like right now. We needed LBrown to be something sooner rather than later. Roby can take the time to be something later.

The few games ive seen him play, he was doing the Dany Heatley role of finding an opening for a one timer and then scoring. Of course im not comparing him to a 50 goal scorer but he seemed to play that role and well. That's a pretty good starting point to see what he can develop into i'd think.

Yeah, that's his main thing. I always saw him as a Laine lite-lite-lite.

People forget a lot of Brown's problems have been :

- injuries and loss of development time
- covid and loss of development time
- his father and maybe doubtful "advice"
- his foot speed (first few steps)

Jarventie doesn't seem to have any of these problems so far so him being the new Logan Brown but without these problems would be extremely good news. Brown has a very high talent level. He has an opportunity with the Blues this season so who knows if he's able to stay healthy and if he plays with good players

Yeah, that's his main thing. I always saw him as a Laine lite-lite-lite.

Yes, he plays similarly to Laine, his bread and butter is to make plays in the offensive zone and use his booming shot. Don't necessarily need 3 "lite", just 1 lite would be a good description if he succeeds

Roby seems like a real icing on the cake type of prospect right now. Happy he's in the system and I'm happy we don't need him anytime soon. Maybe he comes in when we are in a cap crunch or we can trade him for a position of need. With the additions we have made the club can really take their time with him.

Jarventie improved his play driving skills last year and that showed up in the WJC .. He has more development to go. It could be worth being patient with him. He is still very young. He can shoot and he can score so he has that going for him.

He missed some time due to injury but he had a pretty solid 20 year old season.

Boom Boom is displaying the trajectory for which I believe the Sens scouts chose him higher than some more notable names. He has a goal scorer’s shot and brought it with him at each level of Men’s competitions he played as a teen. If he can focus on his game away from the puck, we have a legit top-9 prospect who can slot in PP2.

The move to C mid-season was intriguing. I haven't seen him in play in that position, but I wonder if it did force him to get more involved in the play, which hopefully will translate to the NHL even if he goes back to the wing.

His production at his age is impressive. A bit of a pp specialist right now though. I didn’t catch any games when he was at center. Or at least didn’t notice him there.

Personally this kid may be a monster at 23.

I am hoping he comes into next training camp and pushes for a spot.
It is likely that he goes back to Belleville but probably will be at the top of the list for call-ups and may play himself into the lineup over the course of the season. He has the skillset.

I suppose being patient with Jarventie is the way to go as he has a long way to go to get to the NHL. He seems far too passive to me.

I thought that part of his game took the most strides this year.

He seemed more involved, more physical and handled the puck more.

If he has a similar jump next season then I think we have a legit top 9 player with top 6 upside.
