Well we already have Ross Johnston playing on the top line so I wouldn't want to have to move Dal Colle into the top-6.

That said I am more than ready for the day when this team has a better option than Bailey they can roll out there.

People fling that word around too easily on these boards. I enjoy watching Buffalo play and think that their fans would make for a great playoff game to watch on television. Good luck!
No, no, no. In general they have an A**H*** laden fan base. Just ask Canes' fans.

How many more times do we play these losers again this year? Will appreciate the points, but having to deal with this fan base sucks all the life out of the W.
Why do you have to deal with them? You live in Buffalo or something?

Oh I have not forgotten all the trolling they did after that vanek trade. All they do is whine how we are boring and take holding penalties all game long
1) It was like the same 3 people who couldn't stop with the boring talk.
2) Did you happen to notice the people who responded "Who gives a flying fig, they win. I'd sign on for that in a heartbeat".
3) Just by having Barzal on their roster anyone who says the Isles are boring is nuts.
4) Sparky wasn't happy with me today but we should make up by Tuesday:

I just got home from the game, I will gladly take the win but that said this game should not have been this close. Our anemic power play and lack of offense is our weakness and until those are addressed it will be our downfall come playoff time.

I think the Isles unimpressive PP was mostly (75/25) due to Buffaloes very good PK. They kept the Isles to the outside the whole time (75), and the Isles seemed rather content to just pass it back and forth on the outside (25).

Prove me wrong

Ready?

What do we lose when Bailey is out if the lineup?

I'll wait.

dude, he's third on the team in points and has had to play up and down the lineup. You can argue the intangibles but to call him a waste of a roster spot.. you need to give it a rest. we have the 2nd best record in the league. this is our longest tenured player who has been a classy player and a team player , he stepped of for ross today, not the first time he has done that for a teammate. it was funny for awhile but wearing thin..

Dobson got 16 minutes today, the most ice time in quite some time. Generally played well and nice to see. His ability to hold his own playing LD is a big plus for him. Should be a much bigger PP threat as he gains more confidence. Surprised he got a shift in OT. Baby steps.

I missed the game but saw the Barry T postgame and he still seemed hot. What did Barzy do?

Barzal went after Dahlin late in the 3rd and gave them a PP where they tied it 6 on 4. Beauvillier bailed him out in OT, but Trotz was not happy. Said he made it personal and not team first. We won't be seeing that again.

A lot more to the story, but that's the skinny. Buffalo fans are whining like crazy about Barzal being the anti-Christ over it. Apparently he was trying to bash his head in. You can read their garbage on the main board.

Just finished the game a little while ago and it was refreshing (again) to hear the coach echo what I thought.

First period was the Islanders dominating. Second period was the Sabres with zone time but not really threatening in any meaningful way. The third was tilted in the Isles favor again, until Barzal decided to take a selfish penalty. Dal Colle looked good in the brief time he was in the game, even without the goal. Varlamov was solid again. Dobson had moments where he looked good and others where he's still doing junior level shit (not bashing, just observing, especially given his lack of ice time this season). The PP was atrocious, just forcing everything and trying to be too cute. The PK has this habit lately of killing off 1:30 of the penalty and not being able to dig deep for that last bit. Should've been a regulation win, but will take the two points. Beauvillier has been our best player all season.

Oh, and I know he had two points today including the tying goal but I'm pretty unimpressed every time I see Eichel. I feel like he's constantly out on the ice and just plays a very unstructured and improvisational game. He's got a wicked shot but he could be so much better if he played with more structure (could be a coaching issue). Maybe I'm alone on that one though.

They cant dig deep because the guys on for the last 30 seconds are the same guys that are on for the first 90 seconds. Not enough clears led to exhausted killers.

The team is 22-7-2, it s remarkable that even the 4 cup teams did not have this great a record after 31 games, yet the roster is flawed, and we don't execute well at times... I tend to believe that if we add that one forward like we did in 1980... we can contend seriously for the Cup, who that player is.. not Hall and I don't think Pageau... ... Right now there are 4 teams that are trailing that could be dead then again maybe not based on the 2019 Blues.

Devils - Hall probably cost way too much, doubt they deal Palmieri
CBJ - Nothing to offer us, they aren't dealing youth
Kings - Kopitar is ideal but way too much money and probaby never leaving LA
Black Hawks - Jonathan Toews... I think his contract diminishes over time, he could be a good fit but probably too expensive for a 3rd line center, if we met Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Backes/Toews feud would be back.

So I don't know where this help comes from, but there is a silver bullet player out there I think that will push us to champion level...

MDC had his best game of his career and it lasted 3 minutes LOL

Wennberg could probably be had from Columbus is Lamoriello wanted to take a risk on him. Jenner is someone else I'd love to get, as I've mentioned many times before, but I can't imagine Columbus is in a rush to move him at this point.
