I guess the organization must REALLY love what Boyle does for the Garden of Dreams. It certainly isn't for his ability as a hockey player.

Boyle is good at what he does. 4th liner who can kill penalties and win face offs. The trouble comes from when he starts playing too much, which is not his fault.

If that had gone in the net off Stralman's skate it wouldn't have counted. No goal going off a Ranger skate counts.

Playing "too much" is not an excuse for peewee hockey plays in the offensive zone.

That said, AV is to blame too. He needs to get a few thing through his head

1) Stop playing 4th lines a ton of minutes per game
2) learn what a time out is
3) stop calling out players and then scratching people for said called out player

Not within this system and how AV wants this team to play. 4th line needs to be a defensive energy line. Pyatt and Boyle can't skate.

What 4th liner is good in all three zones? Asking for good offensive play out of Boyle is wanting play that you don't find in a 4th liner.

All the 4th line should do is just try and maintain possession in the offensive zone. Continue to cycle and kill time. Throw it at the net if they get a chance.

You want no 4th liners and want your bottom six filled with 3rd line guys that CAN play well in all zones. That's just not a realistic expectancy in a cap world.
