Pre-Game Talk: (3) Washington Capitals VS (6) New York Rangers (Schedule in Post #1)

I like that we aren't playing until Thursday. There's the needed rest for Lundy and we can inject Clowe, Dorrset, and Staal into the line-up.

Winner, winner, Ovenchicken dinner.

The Thursday start benefits the Rangers. They have injuries that need more time to heal.

Happy for the later start.

Allows time for Staal, Clowe, Dorsett and Boyle to heal and potentially be available to play.

Would like to get three of the four back (obviously Boyle sits)

Hagelin - Stepan - Callahan
Clowe - Brassard - Nash
Kreider - Richards - Zuccs
Dorsett - Powe - Asham/Boyle

Staal - Girardi
MDZ - McDonagh
Stralman - Moore

I'm sure its a complete coincidence that the its beneficial to Rags with their injury problems that the series starts Thursday even though there is nothing preventing a Tuesday start.

No doubt the Rangers called up the league and asked for more time to get ready. Definitely not a coincidence.

Damn...

Well, this is why I still have cable.

Just realized if we win the series we may have to play Montreal in rd 2. If we avoid that we'll play Ottawa, thus making my prediction true :o

There's no possible way we play Montreal in the 2nd round. If Pittsburgh, Montreal and NYR win, we play Pittsburgh. If NYI, Montreal and NYR win, we play the winner of BOS/TOR. If Montreal loses, we don't play them in the 2nd round.

That's what I mean.

If we win I don't wanna play either team we'll play in the 2nd

Why not? The longer things go for Pitt the better the chances they fall flat. That teams depth is pretty old and slow.

Toronto will have had a physical battle with Boston, and vice versa plus Boston's not playing great anyway and had a lot of games to finish the season.

None of the other teams scare me they all have question marks, Washington is Washigton we've played them enough with lesser rosters to know we can beat them.

Ovechkin's finally playing up to his level, it's not shocking. We've played them and beat them with a hot Ovy in the last. Semin is gone thankfully since he had our number. Only other guy that is always a thorn in our side is Carlson. I doubt Holtby will replicate last seasons playoff performance.

None of the matchups will be easy, but they are all winnable IMHO.

Our team has been warming up at the right time, couple that with Staal, Clowe and hopefully Dorsett and I think we will be just fine.

Believe me, there is a difference ;) Extra 30 mins of sleep might prove invaluable.

I just don't get it, what's wrong with 7:10 PM start? I assume the change was forced by NBC, but what's the point? Anyone?

I am actually glad it is 7:30, I was actually hoping for 8 PM, by the time I get home from work from the city with my commute, I am lucky to walk in the door at 8 PM. I always miss most of the first period which I hate.

Anyway this is my first post I am super excited. I was a long time ranger fan up until 1999 or so, and then stopped watching hockey for many years up until last year which was a great year to watch and got me back into hockey!

Happy to be here!

I hate the 7:30 starts and I live in Connecticut. I actually don't mind them if I'm watching at home, but it makes it a pain if I'm actually going to the game. Much like game 3 is going to be a hassle because of travel for me.

I have not been to a game since the early 90's

Funny thing is I work 3 blocks from MSG, but don't really know too many hockey fans, and rather go with someone I know. I am going to make it a point to at least go to some games next year.

But I can see the opposite of what you are saying if it is earlier start at 7 PM, you can get home much earlier which is a nice plus.

Hank's new mask for the playoff's...:yo:

I just don't wanna see anymore OTT and I don't know how they'll do against Montreal. I'd rather Boston over Toronto in the semis tho
