Any chance to leave Laughton or GH with Risot in Edmonton?

Not sure, Cates was very good against McDavid as a rookie.
And Luchanko one of the few NHL centers who can actually skate with McDavid.
So he has a fighting chance to be about as good defensively against him as most NHL center
s.

The problem with Luchanko is more on the offensive side, just hasn't had time to polish those skills.
Stuff like this is why I end up hating certain players.

When will he get time to polish those skills?

So we agree they miss Seeler? :naughty:

Right now the LHDs on LHV are Andrae, Ginning and McDonald, Andrae really needs a defense first partner and McDonald ain't ready for prime time.

The top D-men in the prospect pipeline are Bonk, Gill, Sotheran, Molino and Mann. All RHD.

We know center and LHD are the two problem areas going forward, but they can't address that until summer.

Hunter took 3 minor penalties in LHV game. He may not be ready for the AHL.

Andrae needs to pay to see what they have in him. This mind you will not happen. Having EJ play in front of him is not what a rebuilding team would do.

Well, RHD is also an issue.

The defense issue will be addressee via trade. I have no doubt about that at all.

I chuckle a bit reading that Drysdale has been shit. Nobody will have the balls to hold them to the fire for that asinine trade.

Andre in not in LHV, he has been with the Flyers for 5 days now and showed in preseason he is NHL ready and much better option at LD than the washed up bum EJ. Just because Torts says something doesn't make it right.

A team that struggles to move the puck out of their zone and also struggles to score could absolutely need Andre over EJ.

Missing Seeler, a generic 3rd pairing player on a good team, simply demonstrates how poor the Flyers D actually is.

Ok. Thought it might be onpoint for the Flyers to sit him during his 9 game call-up.

If he is scratched, does that game count as one of the 9?

Typical Flyers:

Let's give Jett 9 games and see what he's got.......

Torts proceeds to scratch Jett 8 of the 9 games

No, only games he plays count towards the 9

Saw a stat on ESPN: the Flyers have not led after the first period in their last 15 games.... is that good?

They knew they had these issues going into the season, why do you think Torts smothered the "playoffs" talk quickly.
He also downplayed Michkov b/c he doesn't want the media to raise expectations too high for a 19 year old rookie.
And he sound ambivalent about Luchanko b/c he wants the kid to play without feeling he has to do too much.

They know they're rebuilding, they know they need another top 6 center and a couple LHDs.

Because his schtick is based around setting low expectations for liminal teams, so as to take individual credit for overperformance and dodge individual blame for underperformance. It’s a perfect win-win.

The Flyers almost impossibly missed the playoffs last year because of his late season bungling (especially game 82). But the narrative slides back into, “Well, no one expected them to make it when the season started.” And Tortorella gets off scot-free.
