Revisionist history at its best. The truly ironic thing here is that you've been one of the absolute worst apologists, preaching patience and not making moves for their own sake. And now that -- 4 1/2 years later -- most of us are on board with the horrific state of the Canes, it no longer matter how we all got to that conclusion? Ridiculous.

The mess started when we didn't trade Whitney. People said Rutherford's hands were tied. It continued with the re-signing of Pitkanen. People said he was a No. 1 d-man. It continued with re-signings of Gleason and Ruutu. People said we can't replace them in free agency.

You guys are a joke if you think this is only about the 2014 team. This has been coming for years.

Just make your point about it being something long lasting instead of making ******** up originally then. Your post said literally a month ago 98% of people here thought this was a playoff team. That was total ******** and you knew it.

Lets see here.

Give up Shorthanded goal

Give up goal after Canes score

Have former player score against us

Allow late 3rd period goal to break tie

Anything else?

Thank you Tuomo. If the Canes aren't going to make the playoffs they might as well lose an entertaining game. Kapanen here we come!

Ward inexplicably getting the loss despite being probably the best goaltender to play in the game. Brodeur and Anton looked awful.

EDIT: Great minds think alike.

It is the evening of the day
I sit and watch the HURRICANES play
Smiling faces I can see
But not for me
I sit and watch
As tears go by

So... if Ruutu and Jokinen both do well as soon as they get the hell out of Carolina and they also play well in the Olympics - does that perhaps indicate that the Canes coaching staff is still below average NHL standards and they don't have a clue how to handle pretty good top 6 players even if they have them...

Wait a sec. Ward made *eight* saves in just over 26 minutes, for a very Ward-like .889 save percentage. He may well have been the best goalie in the game (by default), but allowing a floater to beat him glove side high when he's at least a foot off his angle on a shot from directly in front of the net puts him directly in line for the loss, if you ask me.

The team fought all the way back from a two-goal, third-period deficit and lost because Cam Ward can't stop a shot that 100 percent of NHL goalies have to stop to stay in the league. Lather, rinse, repeat.
