Wait a sec. Ward made *eight* saves in just over 26 minutes, for a very Ward-like .889 save percentage. He may well have been the best goalie in the game (by default), but allowing a floater to beat him glove side high when he's at least a foot off his angle on a shot from directly in front of the net puts him directly in line for the loss, if you ask me.
The team fought all the way back from a two-goal, third-period deficit and lost because Cam Ward can't stop a shot that 100 percent of NHL goalies have to stop to stay in the league. Lather, rinse, repeat.
He was screened on the goal. I believe (and I'd need to look at the highlights again to confirm) that the only reason he was out of position on the goal because he was attempting to look past the screen. He looked the wrong way. It happens.
I'd say pinning the loss on Ward instead of the goaltender that gave up 4 goals earlier in the game just reeks of double standard. Considering, IIRC, there was a similar situation earlier in the season where Khudobin stepped in for Ward, but was absolved of any goals he gave up because Ward put the team in a hole in the first place.
