Are there by chance any Rangers fans who actually think this team is a contender?

If I luck out and none of us are delusional, shouldn't we waive Biron, Asham, Pyatt and Powe.

We'd scratch Richards since he's getting bought out anyways and he can't get hurt.

We'd play a lineup along the lines of:

Kreider-Stepan-Kristo
Hrivik-Miller-Zuc
Mash-Lindberg-Fast
Haley-Moore-Dorsett

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Moore
Allen-McIlrath

Talbot

Trade everything you can't waive for high picks and prospects. That obviously includes Lundqvist, say something I dare you.

Package if you have to. Nothing in our system is off limits.

Get McDavid. Get a goalie. Get some actual goal scorers in the system besides Nieves.

Obviously Sather has to be fired. But we can make this work. In 5 years or so, the cup is ours. Best case scenario.

We'd finish in last, or close enough to it to win the McDavid lottery. If we accidentally win too many games, give Malcolm some time in net to secure our prize.

This sounds reasonable and likely.

I respect your opinion and more so now . I just feel he has a few flaws that have never been addressed like playing so darn deep. We could have had Dryden and billy Smith tonight and still gotten killed just a crap night

Do you really ****ing think that playing deep is a "flaw" in his game and not something Allaire teaches him? I mean the guy must really suck at his position if he can't challenge shooters after all that time despite Allaire's wishes.

I have to. It'd be one thing if it was a winnable game, but the Sharks are on another planet.

THat just pisses me the **** off, though. With the resources and money this team has, they should be contending, LEGITIMATELY, every season, like a San Jose or a Detroit.

This forward lineup is terrible. Legitimately terrible. There's a couple of good pieces (Stepan, Hagelin, Callahan, Nash), but the rest are currently tweeners (although Zuccarello has been winning me over and I still like Brassard).

Also, the lack of size is very noticeable, the Sharks are huge and it's obvious in this game.

Look at it this way, we may be playing ****** hockey but San Jose's also playing pretty good hockey :dunno:

this.

lol you cannot be serious

One thing I will say has been on my mind for a couple of season now - besides Callahan, it's rare that anyone on our team really finishes a check. G and Staal do from time to time and you see everyone else do it once in a while but, otherwise, we're all way too content to just kind of rub shoulders and give a slight bump and way too unwilling to actually finish the check and run through a guy when we hit them. And I'm not talking about running out of position to make a bit hit. I'm just saying, nobody seems to want to finish a hit. A big body guy like Pyatt has opportunities to really cream people, but he'd much rather just give 'em a bump. Not picking on him either, just using him as an example. I think that lack of aggressive mentality translates to other areas of the game.

Agree with this so much.

For god sakes Zucc is tougher than half the team.

The Rangers are bad and they should feel bad. Time to choke for a while and win some draft lotteries. It's our best reasonable hope at a cup.

Henrik played deep in his net long before he even knew who Benoit Allaire was. (see. Frolunda Indians)

Yet, at the same time, you introduce inherent bias due to your playing the position. Much like Troy Aikman always defends QBs when he does NFL games. It's simply human nature.

I think you need to acknowledge that before we can move forward, because a failure to acknowledge such an inherent bias means any discussion on Henrik is pointless.

Not if he makes valid points. Did he make valid points or not? Perhaps you have a bias that makes you question whether he has a bias and so you are ignoring his valid points.

We finish in last. Choke. And we have a shot at winning the McDavid lottery. Do what the Pens did. This team is NOT winning a cup. Wake up.
McDavid isn't draft eligible this year. If you're gonna spew **** at least get it right.

This would be Suck Bad For Ekblad

Okay guys, I'm off to take a shower and buy breakfast. Perhaps I'll tune in for period 3. Please don't blame me.

I can not believe the lack of heart this team is showing in this game...

This is what has me most concerned at the moment. I don't give a **** about the score, and I don't give a **** about how San Jose is playing.

What I do give a **** is the fact that this team straight up quit tonight. This was one of the worst periods of Rangers hockey in recent history.

Can you hit rock bottom in the third game of the season?

Outclassed tonight.

Fire AV, hire Lavi ;)

Look at it this way, we may be playing ****** hockey but San Jose's also playing pretty good hockey :dunno:

Teams are never as good or as bad as they look. Thinking that this team is ****ed after this game would be the equivalent of planning a cup parade after last night.

When Joe Thornton says this team is soft after the game tonight, I will have to agree with him. And it's not just about physicality - the lack of mental toughness and inability to deal with adversity in tonight's game has been troubling.

Well that will definitely happen. Ill be waiting patiently for what the return on Lundqvist and Nash and Mcdonagh are. Should be some fun times.
