Did everyone on this board actually think the Leafs were going to win every game they outplayed their opponents, and every game they didnt outplay their opponents?

It was starting to look like that. I know

But the team is going to play a stinker here and there. Every good team has and will.

Give it a break folks.

When you are up 5-1, there is an expectation you would win. This isn't like a 2-1 loss, they were up 5-1 against the worst team in the league.

If I only had a nickel for how many times we've said the exact same thing for the last few years.
When is enough enough?

Youd have like 15 cents?

Leafs have been a good team at holding leads the least few years and this feels like a one off.

The last 3 years previous, the Leafs had 2 games where they gave up 3+ goal leads.

The two worst teams in this regard just last year? The Devils and the Boston Bruins with 3 each. Damn those Bruins and their choking ways eh? I'm sure their media and fanbase holds on to those.......

How many years have we been saying this?
It's about time this team became dominant in stringing together some winning streaks.
Are we the only team that RARELY plays one entire game where we're dominant?

Not enough to critique haha??

And where do people in the know consider these "choking Bruins" as you call them, to be in terms of being a legitimate Cup contender??? Oh, I know, you're going to come back with, what happened to them in the bubble? That could realistically be called a bump in the road. Can the same thing be said about us?
It's about time some people admit that maybe, just maybe, Dubas doesn't know how to build a winner. 4 years of the same old, same old, having very good regular seasons and then shitting the bed in the playoffs. Hell, technically we didn't even make the playoffs last season (even though some on here refuse to admit that, smh)!

Third period:

Corsi: 19-18 Leafs
Shots: 12-10 Leafs
Scoring Chances: 11-9 Leafs

....and thats with the Sens getting that bizarre 4 min powerplay when Chabot kneed Hyman and Hyman clipped him in the face trying to avoid it.

Looks like the harder working and more talented team lost last night. Thats going to happen sometimes although the sheer amount of bounces the Sens got was comical.
But why does it seem like these kind of games only happen to us?

It felt like the game against Boston except that I didn't really care what happened in overtime. Hopefully they learn something from this one. When AM completely no-cellied the 5-1 goal I was thinking "game's not over dude, look like you care"...
Unfortunately Leaf fans have long memories and as they say history has a way of repeating itself.

This game has a certain Déjà vu bad taste feeling to it.

Flashback to November 29th, 2000

Leafs fans have been here & done this before !!! :banghead:

It happens and if we havent noticed no matter how bad the Senators and Canadiens have been over the years. Every game with these 2 teams is a dog fight. We have our share of difficulties when it comes to playing these 2 teams.

They will rebound tomorrow and the following game.

They dont.

Being a hardcore fan means you remember when it happens to you though. Boston game 7 has left some deep scars though and this was a good one.

Like I showed earlier, these kind lost leads have actually happened less to the Leafs than most other teams the last few years. No sense in losing your mind over it.

That applies to Marner the most

You mean like he wasnt the same without JT?
Like he is over-rated?
Like him being a weasle?
Like him being overpaid by 4MM?

3rd in scoring in the league.

I can't recall a single nice word you have ever had for this player. Instead of pearl clutching, understand that players can have a bad stretch that many knowledgeable people here can accept. What cant be abided is the piss poor talent evaluation posters like yourself offer up.
The least of the problem around here is that Marner gets insufficient criticism. One of the biggest problems is the lack acceptance that much of the criticism was complete bullshit.

Those 4 comments above were you.

People keep saying that this is overreacting. Is it overreacting that the leafs haven’t been able to make it out of the first round? We’ve been hearing this team is different but it honestly looks like more of the same. A fragile team that is weak mentally and doesn’t understand what it takes to win. People can call this an overreaction or whatever but until we see what happens in the playoffs, these examples in the season are all that we have to go by.

I'm just finding it hard to truly believe in this team. Especially when I don't believe in Dubas.
