The other day I thought Talbot might start, but now thinking about it, I'm not sure why I thought that and I'm not sure why he should start. There's not another game until Thursday, so Lundqvist should be starting this, IMO.

Considering Lundqvist is going to be a free agent, I don't think this year is the year to **** with him.

AV would be in for a rude awakening if he thinks its a good idea to not go with the best goalie in the league consistently.

There is nooooooo chance AV doesn't know what he's doing here. In the playoffs Hank is going to be the man. He's just resting him considering how many games are in December, just look at how many games are crammed into the schedule right now, and it makes sense to ride the hot hand and really test cambot to see if he's for real.

Don't forget, AV replaced Tremblay in Montreal who got fired in large part because he didn't handle the stars properly. Tremblay was the reason Patrick Roy stormed off and requested a trade, and he never lived it down. AV came in to clean up the mess and it's always in the back on his mind not to alienate key guys

I dont see the problem here. Talbot is playing like a starter and Hank isnt playing like he has in the past, which is costing us games. Nothing wrong with a little kick in the ass by having the backup start a 2nd game in a row against a mediocre team. The team seems better in every area with Talbot in net, maybe we should just give Hank a Talbot jersey.

Back in November 2010, Biron started back-to-back games twice, including 3 out of 4 once. He had a 0.930 SV% and a 1.83 GAA in the month. That helped with the Rangers lean on Lundqvist later in the season, when he was playing better.

That's how I see it. Hank is going to get his games when he plays in the Olympics. Let him chill. Talbot gives us a better chance to win right now. I love Hank as much as the next guy, but Hank isn't the usual self right now.

Biron started two in a row on November 11 and November 14. That's because there was another game on November 15.

He then started on November 20 and November 22. That's because there was a game on November 19.

Those two times he started was a result of two days in a row there was a game. Now there isn't.

AV didn't create a controversy. Lundqvist did, by playing like ****.

Anyways.... would it be too much to ask to go 2 games over .500?

So, .918% and 2 SO after a complets farce of a start for the ENTIRE team = playing like ****. Moronic.

Anyhow, happy for Talbot. He's on fire right now so might as well take the opportunity to ride him to give him even more confidence and experience. He won't be playing like this all season so might as well use it to our advantage.

Hank will react to this by performing even better. He isn't the sulky type. Full-bred winner. AV did confirm Hank is the team's #1 as well so no reason to get all worked up :)

Nothing wrong with a little healthy competition, hank needs to get his **** together he hasn't played like he's capable, regardless of how the team plays in front of him he has to play better.

It's also not the year for him to have what has been, so far, the worst season of his career.

but but Talbot has better stats:sarcasm:

Regardless of the team in front of Lundqvist, he hasn't played the way he's capable of. Combine that with the fact that Talbot is red hot, and the decision to start Talbot tonight is perfectly reasonable.

I'm glad AV doesn't give two craps what the media is gonna do with this story. Bottom line is giving his team the best shot to win and getting the most out of his players.

ding ding ding

Cam isn't taking Hanks job anytime soon, and if he eventually does, then we save about $54mm

Waiting for Callahan to show anything remotely resembling earned a slot on that 2nd line

It's one game. It's no reason to get stupid like this and start speculating if Lundqvist is going to jump ship because of it.

Not a big deal at all. Hank gets to rest and work on stuff in practice with Allaire for about 6~7 days straight. That's a good thing. I know goalies like to play but practice and rest are important.

its those same stupid fans who rather keep Girardi let him walk for 0 for an extra month or 2 in the playoffs... time to maximize assets is now.. instead of trying to sign UFA in the summer and have to panic to replace those UFA, just because Girardi walked out and signed with Leafs or Avs on July 1 :help: id say trade him now.. if someone offered the Rangers a close to ready young NHL forward J.Morin, Emerson Etem (examples), a top prospect (Mike Hartman, Bo Horvat, Brendan Gaunce examples) and 1st round pick for Girardi, it should be done...

Hank usually responds well to extended practice time with Allaire. I have a feeling he'll be a worldbeater going forth in December after this.

You guys don't think Hank takes it as a slight that Talbot starts back-to-back games when the Rangers don't play again 'til Thursday? Dude's a workhorse. He wants to play. I get that it's an Olympic year, but starting Talbot tonight ISN'T because of that. It's because right now, AV likes Talbot better. That says controversy to me.

Whatever. This I'm sure is another argument on HF that I'll lose.

Let me ask.

Why is it a problem for the coach to like the kid that has been giving the Rangers a better chance to win on a nightly basis.

The Rangers HAVE to start getting cemented in the 3rd spot in the Division to ensure a Playoff spot.

If the kid is hot and you can tak advantage of giving Hank more of a rest now so that you can run him 9 out of 10 games over the 2nd half of the season and into the PO's then I think you need to do that.

Hank is a work horse that has had his best statistical seasons playing in 62 games.

the higher the games played number is, the weaker the Save Percentage has been

In seasons where Hank has played 70 games or better he's sported an average save percentage of .916

In seasons where Hank has played 69 games or fewer he's sported an average save percentage of .925

It's not a matter of your opinion being wrong because it can be looked at in a way that screams controversy, I just think it's a smart way to get Talbot into games and to somewhat light a fire under Hanks crapper.

Not a terrible thing really.

`#NYR Lundqvist admits he's not happy but that Vigneault's decision to play Talbot tonight is probably best. Said he stands behind it´

No controversy at all. Lundqvist is a team comes first guy. He will be back in true form against the Sabres.

5-3 win LGR!!!

Talbot is playing better right now. End of story.

I'd be pissed if he wasn't starting

Best possible reaction from Lundqvist. Pissed but understanding. Hopefully he has a big December.

Seriously.

The word controversy doesn't belong anywhere near this topic. Cam's hot, so play Cam. I'm sure Henke will get the next start. The issue will be if Cam is great tonight and Henke isn't next game, all things equal.

Right now it's just a day to day thing, way I see it. Like as not, that's how AV sees it as well and he isn't in the wrong.

If Cam is great tonight he should start the next game too
