Sometimes I think about Laughton’s team worst 30% GF% at ES (2nd worst xGF%) and wonder, How would the team survive without him? Who would take his minutes? Sanheim? A sensible chuckle rises in my throat. Of course they could not. What a silly thought to think.

"(Konecny) pulled by a spotter and I stopped playing him. He's undisciplined. He's too undisciplined." - TK

And the PGL crew eats it right up.

Tortorella is the king of mixed messages. He wants fire and standing up for people and dresses a goon, but he’s willing to sacrifice standings points, while competing for the playoffs, because his best player is too fiery. Yes, Tortorella, the master of discipline.

They're playing like they did last season: a playoff caliber team based on 5x5 play when they get average or better goalie play.
They need to get the PK back on track b/c the PP, while improved, is still a year away from winning games for them.

The reason being competitive matters is that the last two games are the kind of experience that teaches young players how to win (not to lose) games with playoff implications. You don't learn those lessons losing 7-3 every night.

As far as TK, it's not a matter of being "fiery," it's a matter of being stupid, a cheap shot hit at the worst possible time. The difference between his hit and Tippett was Tippett was protecting a teammate getting mugged with the refs just watching.

Can you remind me what some of those scores were at the end of last season?

…what is the direction of this team moving forward?
Like seriously now…27 games into this season and it’s the same show we’ve been dialled into over the past 10-15 years.
If it’s a rebuild….f***ing rebuild!
And Torts definitely needs to be no where around this team…not coaching, not upstairs and not as an adviser!
Don’t even entertain the offer of letting Torts having the hammer in this process!

it was never a rebuild

Matvei Michkov is hitting all the sweet notes...what a player...Flyers might as play the top 6 forwards 25 minutes each per and leave the other 3 forwards taking up the other 10 minutes...I can see Michkov hitting 30 goals this season maybe more and 85 points

Right now the top 20 players.
Couts (32), Hathaway (33), Laughton (30), Seeler (31), Risto (30). That's your old veterans
Sanheim (28), TK (27), Poehling (26)
Everyone else is 25 or younger. 12 of 20.
(and Drysdale, but unless he makes a big jump, won't be in future plans).

That's the difference.
Odds are Risto and Laughton will be traded at the TDL if not the summer.

"Playoff Caliber" means "mediocre." This isn't a selling point

You can laugh but these are my thoughts. (1) Start running other teams star players like it's done to ours (2)Get a PP Coach, this guy flat out sucks (3)send Fedotov down, let the team get used to Erson as the starter and Kolosov the backup (continuity is important) (4) unleash angry Torts, he's better when he goes nuts on the Refs and the other team. This team has some talent but needs Snarl. Look at Florida, they beat teams that are better but none match that meanness.

McAvoy showed s lot of guts going after a 19 year old rookie. Fake tough guy stuff.
McAvoy is a a complete faux tough guy.

Pathetic stuff going after Michkov, knowing full well if someone else went after him, a teammate would come in and he wouldn’t have to answer himself.

Real stones it takes to operate that way.

haha.. yea we def. need to be more BSB...

🤣🤣🤣

Well, it was an entertaining game to watch. And as much as the Bruin can be jerks, they are a good match for our squad.

No one said anything about BSB. I'm taking team toughness, something we don't have. Boston roughed the Flyers up, they got off their game and lost. Lots of tough teams are out there and the Flyers are not. Name a time Pasta was even checked while TK and MM were being hammered. Hockey is a rough game and the Flyers are mostly receiving.

they dont need toughness...they need mental toughness..they are mental midgets...they were leading..they collapsed ...like i said..every team is gonna target MM...he is the youngest and most talented...they need to control their emotions..which is what they didnt do and lost

I agree that they could have more of an edge. For all the focus on bringing in Hathaway, Deslauries, Ristolainen, Seeler, and retaining Laughton…

Are they one of the more punishing clubs in the league? I haven’t watched enough in a few years to know, but I’ll venture a guess - and say no.

The game today has gotten a little too soft even for me, I’ll bite on that one - but as always. Find the talent first, then go for the intangibles. Kucherov, and Point aren’t bruisers, nor is Rantanen or Makar. Talent beats all.

They want to be more Flyer like under Jones, and Danny. Have they been? Other than good old Comcast propaganda?

Crosby had over 100 PIMs in his rookie year because he was getting mugged every game and was standing up for himself.

Guys are going to take liberties with young stars. It happens and I'm glad the Flyers have a pack mentality to protect him... but Boston, and specifically McAvoy, tapped into something this game that the Flyers need to avoid.

They can protect Michkov without collectively losing their shit. That third period was an incredible example of a mentally fragile franchise.
The reason I hated Crosby in the early years was all the diving he'd do, there were so many times in a game he'd fall if someone was anywhere near him, or jerk his head back and pretend to be hit with a high stick, that used to piss me off when he'd do that, that was my sole issue with him, not because he was the best player in the league

But don't get me wrong, there were times where he was damn near assaulted as well, and younger me wanted people to light him up just for the diving, but as I've gotten older I realize how stupid I was

I have no problem with Tippett making a run at MacAvoy when he was mugging Michkov, the refs were just watching and doing nothing. Can't let him beat up a teammate like that.

But TK taking a run at MacAvoy with the game on the line was incredibly stupid.
I watched the game last night and agree on both counts. IMHO, Michkov went down easily on the slash but under no circumstances should he be left alone to the likes of McAvoy or worse. Konecny needed to be a lot more subtle and choose his spots way better.

Thought it was a good game guys, until the Bruins diving started.......good on Torts for calling out the officials.
Bruins do this more than any team in the league....but then again look who they put the C on.
