Other than size and BC, I don't see the Boyle comparison. Boyle had a nasty game right from the start. Over a PIM a game as a freshman, then 1.5 as a soph, 2.5 as JR and SR. He started to show some offensive skills as a JR but other than 1 year in the NHL it never really translated. With him it was "If he improves his skating and hands he can be a good 3rd liner, but if not he'll be a physical grinding 4th liner."

Letourneau is a better skater, more creative, better hands. If his offense progresses he can be a good 2C. But if his offense doesn't progress, I'm not sure what he is. His faceoff skills are good so I guess he can still be a 4C, but I think he'll frustrate fans as a big guy with no offfense and no nastiness. And if he turns into that, who really cares.

I agree with DKH check back in a year. But the kid has a LOT of work to do.
Think if his offense doesn't progress he's Reilly Tufte

Im playing a wait and see. he wasn't in bC plan this year at all until Smith decided to go pro, but boy their a young team, and a handful of them wont be back next year, because their that talented, so if he's a no show offensively next year, Ill start to worry it was another wasted pick.

Serious question if anyone has any thoughts: where would he go in this year's draft?
If we just include his Prep School year, the kid is easily a top 15 pick in this year's draft

If we pretend he's a bit younger but still playing for BC this year, end of the first, beginning of the 2nd, big range though, 25 to 40ish

Obviously his points are a turnoff and now we've seen how green he actually is but his ceiling remains very high

At 6'7 I hope so

IDK

Obviously the size and scoring rate in prep school are pluses on his side, but there hasn't been a guy drafted in the 1st round directly from that level since 2012. This year is a lesser draft and I guess someone could bite on the unicorn potential, but top 15 is too rich for me.

Silayev was considered a reach last year as a guy over drafted because of his size, but the dude played KHL games.

Solberg might be a good comp even if (like Silayev) he's a D man. Drafted out of the the Norwegian league which is a pretty risky thing to do, went 2 picks before Letourneau. But at least he had played in international tournaments including the World Cup against men.

Massimo Rizzo put up similar stats to Letourneau in that same league, but as a guy 2 years out from being drafted. He was a 6th rounder. Again, obviously Letourneau's size puts him at a much more coveted level than Rizzo.

Taking Letourneau over guys like Lakovic or Martin or Hensler or Acheson might've ended up being the smart move if Letourneau breaks out. But it's damn risky.

Check back in 700 days he will be 19-20 and we can have more info
Will he turn out better than Eiserman do you think?

Well know if he sucks 5 games into next season.

BC is crazy loaded. But slow start to next year probably means major problems. Of course tons of ice time will be opening up after this year.

Beecher was a similar project and he turned out ok.

Yes if his offensive game doesn't improve, and his defensive game which is already good for his age never improves, then he becomes reilly tufte.

Hopefully this kid becomes a poor man’s Mario Lemieux rather than Joe Colborne

I get, it and that is a wide range of outputs. Also, before the injuries hit Colborne had developed into a good NHL player , in his 25 year old season he put up 19 goals and 44 points before his body started to break down, and he was done in a blink of an eye
