Honestly besides the first 2 goals this game was a snooze fest. They outclassed NYR in the 1st but couldn't convert on any of their 2 on 1s and it wasn't because Shesterkin was being otherworldlySaw the last six minutes. Worth watching the rest past the first period?
First period was a lot of fun if you enjoy the Flyers dominating the Rangers.Saw the last six minutes. Worth watching the rest past the first period?
Gel*The lines are starting to jell
Tippet looks like absolute dog water when he isn't scoring (and also sometimes when he is scoring) and provides nothing else, but you seemingly don't care about that. This game is why Frost is frustrating, he wasn't awful, made a couple decent plays, but just didn't do much. After the previous few games was hoping he turned the corner.
If he were better he would get paid more, yes that is usually how it works. If Hathaway could only finish plays, he'd be a very rich man.
It's why they turn into fodder when/if they make the playoffs, other teams are forced to take them seriously. The Flyers are getting away with most of the same things they did this time last year, which is basically other teams just not being that interested in playing he entire game.
It's the same as it's been since then, the Flyers have an uncanny knack to absolutely kill teams when other teams let them breathe for even a moment.
it seems the teams out west early in the season did, no coincidence that they seem to be better teams.Gel*

Resilience is probably the word. These players have the right mentality, and the coach deserves some credit for that. The Flyers are getting away with most of the same things they did this time last year, which is basically other teams just not being that interested in playing he entire game.

Gonna have three picks in a row in the middle of the round and pull a 2015 Bruins.15OA, come on down!
Let’s hope!Gonna have three picks in a row in the middle of the round and pull a 2015 Bruins.
Brind'Amour was almost certainly behind the remake of the Carolina roster.Interesting post by NikC on the Rangers board commenting on their team after today's game:
"you say play the "fire the coach card" But what do you do when you have a team that is talented and relatively successful? blow it up? You change the coach ,,,
but they are beyond that now. there is a culture problem, there is a leadership problem, you have players that don't fit, players that aren't great in their roles, and just not enough talent. Too many playmakers and passers. Defensive duds."
Similar to the stuff that we've heard on our board-fire the coach; culture problem; leadership problem; and so forth. It seems to me that one of the issues with many teams right now is that the guys are different from the generation that is coaching them. There's a disconnect between the dinos behind the bench with many of today's players and it's showing up on the ice on several teams. The players aren't going to change; they are what they are. Smart clubs are going to get hip to that and look for coaches, like Tocchet and Brind'Amour, that aren't dinos trying to bang square pegs into round holes. These are the ones that will succeed.
I think winning solves a lot of those issues. Most players would probably rather play a role in a successful team under an asshole coach than a losing team with a players’ coach. The best coaches are adaptable and can be a bit of each when the situation calls for itInteresting post by NikC on the Rangers board commenting on their team after today's game:

I'm sure he made it clear who fit and who they should move.
You don't bang square pegs into round holes, you trade them for round pegs.
I don't think players are that different, there have always been those who put their next contract before their team or just didn't have high motors.
If you have a team that requires the HC to constantly motivate them, at some point they'll tune out the HC. This holds in every sport.
Top teams tend to be led by players who are highly competitive and hold their teammates accountable - if you have a core of these guys the HC can pick his spots.
Rangers weren't that good last year, Shesterkin carried them, but you can only ask him to do so much.

This place used to be happier.A 4 page GDT says it all. It used to be like that before the game even started.
But don't worry, wins are piling up!
