This is a team built for th elong term. You will lose Loshko but gain I think from a pretty good rookie class.

How many teams can say they only have 4 players there were drafted after the 4th round.

Again this is a team that has a plan to host or be in the runing to host the M Cup. Drafting is going to be key.

You know it’s only a matter of time until a certain poster comes on here to tell you all the ways you’re wrong. I think we all already know the script but I agree with you that drafting will be important. The first few rounds are usually quite straightforward, it’s the ability to identify those diamonds in the rough in later rounds which ultimately make the difference. I think they have a set of eyes who knows the’09 class very well who may be able to help there.

Definitely a slow (and boring) start to the game. In second period down a goal and game trending in the wrong direction, until Max Crete ignited the IceDogs with quite a tilt. That seemed to wake up the IceDogs as they responded with four quick goals. Outplayed in the third and Guaranteed the “save of the week” by Flores preserved the IceDogs’ 2 points. They’ll need to play better tonight. Go Dogs.
BTW, I love Max Crete. He has made some bad mistakes that have cost goals but he is tough and has good hockey sense. I hope that Wassilyn can turn up the heat to prove he is the best 2008 because right now, it's Max

Boudreau said when asked if he is considering using Robertson in the near future. “We’re here to make the playoffs and we’re here to win. So with the way Owen Flores is playing right now, if he’s capable of playing, he’s going to play.”

At times he looked pretty good and physical and at other times you could tell he’s a kid on a new team trying to learn new linemates
I was not at the game to see him play live, so it’s difficult to gauge a player’s foot speed properly on TV. Be at the game tonight. Some of his U16 scouting reports mentioned foot speed as an area that he needs to improve? Thoughts?

Wassilyn is leading all rookies in points with 17 points in 18 gp
Crete has 11 points in 24 gp
I love Crete too and he brings a lot more than just points but to suggest the leading rookie in points in the OHL has been disappointing is crazy.

Wassilyn’s last 4 games have been his best and providing a glimpses into the star he will evolve into.

I agree, Wassilyn is a good player and is an extraordinary play maker. I just wish he would get more physical and be better in the defensive zone. He has to figure out that using his body or being hit doesn't hurt for long.
In other word, you wish that Wassilyn would play like an 19 or 20-year-old, now at 16 in his first year of OHL hockey:huh:

Just like i mentioned when it came to making plays sometimes he was right up in the play with Roobroeck and Czata but at times he was a little late to join in the play but that doesn’t really surprise me given who he’s playing with

There has been a flurry of US/CAN flyer picks and FAs signing with various OHL teams. IceDog fans need not hold their breath waiting for a signing to bolster the team, as many OHL teams are currently doing.

A couple of reasons: (1) IceDogs’ didn’t take a single flyer pick, the last three years; (2) apparently the CHL/USHL transfers cost range, depending on the player, anywhere between $10k - $25k US.
The IceDogs are really being left in the dust with this. OHL teams are getting stronger without using draft capital and the IceDogs are not. The latest signing Lev Katzin (Guelph) was a top 10 talent in draft year!
